Additionally, GNIT conducts its own entrance process (written MCQ test + interview) for students who have not appeared in WBJEE or JEE Main, provided they have a minimum of 45% in PCM at 10+2 and at least 60% in Class 10 and 12 boards. Additionally, if you are a West Bengal domicile student with family income below Rs. 2.5 Lakh and 60%+ marks, you can apply for the SVMCM scholarship (Rs. 5,000/month), which can further reduce your out-of-pocket expenses significantly. Exam fees of approximately Rs. 1,200 per semester are charged separately.

Ans. The Food Technology department at GNIT holds NBA (National Board of Accreditation) Tier 1 accreditation, valid from 2022-23 to 2027-28 -- a 6-year accreditation, which is the highest tier. This is significant because NBA accreditation is a quality benchmark recognized by employers and higher education institutions. It ensures that the curriculum, faculty, and infrastructure meet national standards. For placements, NBA-accredited programs are viewed more favorably by reputed food companies and also make graduates eligible for certain government jobs and scholarships that require AICTE/NBA-approved degrees.
