GNIT M.Tech CSE FAQs
Ques. Can I get admission to M.Tech CSE at GNIT without a GATE score?
Ans. Yes, GNIT accepts direct admission to M.Tech CSE for candidates without a GATE score. In such cases, admission is based on the candidate's academic performance in B.Tech (minimum 55% aggregate) and GNIT's own selection process. However, GATE-qualified students are preferred and are also eligible for the MAKAUT monthly stipend of Rs. 3,000. WBUT PGET (conducted by MAKAUT) is another accepted exam for candidates who do not have a GATE score.

Ans. GATE-qualified M.Tech students at GNIT are eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 3,000 from MAKAUT for the full 2-year duration (24 months), subject to conditions. These conditions include maintaining a minimum SGPA of 8.0 each semester, devoting 8-10 hours per week as a teaching/research assistant, and publishing at least one SCI-indexed journal paper and one international conference paper during the course. Students who fail to meet these conditions may have their stipend discontinued.

Ques. What is the difference between M.Tech CSE at GNIT under GATE quota and direct admission?
Ans. Under GATE quota, students are admitted based on their GATE CS/IT score and are eligible for the MAKAUT monthly stipend of Rs. 3,000. The admission process goes through MAKAUT counselling. Under direct admission (without GATE), students are admitted based on their B.Tech academic performance and GNIT's own selection process. Both categories follow the same curriculum and receive the same degree from MAKAUT.
