Ques. Does St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad conduct its own entrance exam for M.Sc. Biochemistry, or is it purely merit-based?
Ans. SXCA follows a two-pronged selection process - merit in the qualifying B.Sc. examination AND a college-level entrance exam. For 2026-27, the entrance exam was conducted online on June 14, 2026 (45 minutes, based on BSc Biochemistry syllabus). The final merit list is prepared considering both components. There is no requirement to appear for any national-level exam like CUET-PG for admission to SXCA's M.Sc. Biochemistry.
Ques. What is the actual total fee for M.Sc. Biochemistry at SXCA for the entire 2-year course?
Ans. Based on the 2026-27 fee structure, the per-semester fee is Rs. 37,950, making the total for 4 semesters Rs. 1,51,800. Note that Registration Fee (Rs. 350) and Alumni Fee (Rs. 500) are charged only once in Semester I for non-Xavierite students. Additional charges include a Placement fee in Semester III and Convocation/Graduation Day fees (Rs. 260 + Rs. 750) in Semester IV.

Ans. No, hostel accommodation is not guaranteed. The Men's Hostel on campus has 168 total seats for all UG and PG students, with only 40 new admissions per year. The Ladies Hostel has 144 seats primarily for UG students, with PG students accommodated only if seats are available. Priority is given to students from rural areas and economically backward classes. Securing college admission does not guarantee hostel admission.
