A brief About SLN MCH

Faculties are well experienced, you got to learn from hod's as well. Daily practical classes and case presentations help you gain knowledge and improve your practical skills. SDL classes are also conducted on a regular interval to make it interactive
Curriculum as per the latest guidelines as well accomplished. Also they will teach you the topics important not only theoretically but also practically that are sometimes not mentioned in the curriculum. They focus on overall development of a student
Internship payouts are good, even better then many other gov colleges and there is increament of 1k annually. About college infrastructure, it's not that widespread and big but appreciable with almost all facilities being provided and is developing.

Dislikes

Power cuts are one the major issues faced by students.
Accommodation is a issue. As it is established in 2017, as the hostels and residents were infrastructured then; recently admitted students are being provided to live at residents outside campus.
Campus life and social interactions are well managed though it may trouble you sometimes as it happens in every other college but once you understand it and becomes comfortable, it is good to go with.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is well organized by the authorities based on the latest medical aspect of our society. Practical classes and regular postings in hospital helps in better understanding. Being the only hospital in nearby cities, our hospital provides us a good exposure to varity of cases. Our Associate proff and HODs also look upto them and help us gain more real world experience. The best aspect of this field or if I have to say Why have I chose it is to serve the society. Absence of well qualified doc at the times of emergency is one of the leading causes of mortality in developing countried like India. Being in this profession, I just want to help people around me.

Geographical Settlement: It's settled along the western Odisha mountain ranges giving a calm and quite environment. The weather and Climate is good with no pollution or city noise with picturesque landscape one can never get bored of
The strength of 125 is ideal so there is any shortage of man work and every student gets equal chances at performing work based activities and learn from it. It provides a good exposure to patients and learn better.
Not driven in much political agendas and is solely focused on things that are needed

Dislikes

Campus could have been better. there's lack of playgrounds and other extra curricular activities related equipments.
Since it's away from any political drama from the looks out it there's lack of funds and development for years since it established whereas colleges in the cities are moving forward
Lack of PG courses makes it again underdeveloped as junior doctors are not choosing this for higher course studies

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Curriculum is entirely based on service. Being a doctor just doesn't mean to read the text and go practice medicine. The ethics, The etiquettes all of those are necessary to being a better doctor and those are covered in the curriculum beautifully without it being a lesson if philosophy.

SLN MCH Koraput : where Academic excellence meets Scenic beauty and serenity!

As a student of SLN Medical college and hospital, I can confidently say that this place is amazing. The city itself is absolutely beautiful with amazing views and landscapes that make you feel like you're living in a hill station.
The college is well planned with the hospital located just across the road , making clinical exposure super convenient. Academically, everything is on point, with a structured curriculum and excellent teaching.
The location of college is another big plus with the main market at 1 km and railway station being just 2-3km away from campus, ensuring everything you need is within easy reac. The hostels & college are well equipped with all necessary facilities.

Dislikes

The campus is relatively smaller compared to some other medical colleges, which might feel a bit limiting but there's a super specialty hospital under construction which should improve the infrastructure in the future.
One downside is that you won't find any fancy restaurants,cafes or malls around here. The nightlife and party scenes are almost non-existent except for the college functions. For malls, you'd need to travel 20km to either Jeypore pr Semiliguda.
Another thing is Koraput is far from the hometowns of most students. There's only one train to Bhubaneswar and two trains to Western odisha, which makes travel a bit inconvenient. This can be a concern for those who prefer frequent trips to home

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course curriculum at SLN Medical College & Hospital, Koraput, as highly relevant and comprehensive. It provides a solid foundation in medical sciences, with a good balance of theory and practical exposure, essential for real-world applications and further academic pursuits. The curriculum’s focus on subjects like anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry in the early years laid a strong foundation. Clinical exposure, though gradual, helps prepare us for patient care and real-life scenarios. They have recently started PowerPoint presentation in the 2nd year by students, group studies and electives after 3rd year exams that has improved the academics. Areas of improvement could be a little more interactive teaching methods including case discussion and stimulation based technique. Exams usually comprise of three internals that are conducted throughout the year after completion of certain topics followed by the one main university exam.

Faculties are too good in teaching and very helpful.
Every student have to do their internship for which they get stipend
Environment of the college in really good because our is situated on hills

Dislikes

Due to lacl of space in campus there is not a big grounds
Number of dogs is increasing day by day.
Cafeteria didn't open 24 X 7 . Sometimes water problems happens

MBBS is undergraduate course after completion You get a Doctor degree. Already in India there is shortage of Doctors so more and more doctors are required. Course curriculum may improve by focusing more on clinical knowledge. In medical colleges examination are nearly every 2 months.

The seniors are good, they help you in every aspect.
The quality of education is good and highly competitive.

Dislikes

The infrastructure can be better, it's not upto the mark.
There can be better mess and fooding facilities.
People have to go through a very hectic schedule.

The study environment, involvement of students in different cirricular activity, self directed learning program, different academic n journal events
Senior junior bonding, the cultural events,
The greenery encircles the college's location in Koraput's outskirts. If you enjoy the outdoors and mountains, this is the most tranquil and calming location.

Dislikes

In Koraput, the rain is agonizing. A continuous 2-3 months of rain may sometimes test your patience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My inclination towards the profession came from my father. There should be research opportunities for interested students. There should be more interactive sessions with students and MCQ tests on a regular basis.

The campus is best hilly places and lot of beauties
Koraput is also widely known as Switzerland of odisha
Best places of the college is in front of the auditorium

Dislikes

The food of the Raju mess I disliked because it is unhealthy
The hospital and college washroom is not hygienic
The college is campus is very short area as compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

After you have once completed MBBS degree u have various job opportunities like tutor,JR in the the college itself by walk in interview.Also you have job like medical officer in CHC,PHC of state of odisha and also out side odisha.My plan after getting the degree join to a pg course as soon as possible

Likes

The environment is very good. library facilities very good.
All time electricity and clean campus.gym facilities.
Faculty member are very good and helpful.

Dislikes

The college is far from my home about 500km.
Campus is small compared to the students.
Many dogs inside the campus and make campus dirty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the MBBS course because of my interest in human biology and my family's dream of being a good doctor. faculty to student ratio1: is 20. Faculty members are well-experienced and highly qualified. we have two internal exams and one University exam at the end of the year.

The course and curriculum are great. The faculty are good. To full fill my dream I choose the course. There is sufficient faculty for the students most of the factors are doctors and the teaching method is also good. There is an annual examination.

Admission:

I got admission in this course by applying in NEET entrance examination. I got good score in my NEET entrance exam and cleared the cutoff set by the college. I got this college in my NEET counselling based on my NEET score. I got this college under all India quota. Candidate who wishes to take admission in this course must appear for NEET entrance examination and must have a valid NEET score. A candidate must at least have 50% in 10+2 in physics, chemistry and biology. After having good NEET score I applied for counseling and in that I got this college.
