Ques. Which is a better choice among industrial systems engineering at IIT Kharagpur and electrical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar?

● Top Answer By Aadarsh on 18 Jun 24

Ans. It is tough to choose one institute over the other as all institutes have a different approach to teaching, subject curriculum, etc.  I can say with my personal experience that Industrial Systems Engineering at IIT Kharagpur is better than Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Kharagpur is one of the oldest and best engineering colleges in India. For the Industrial Systems Engineering branch, top recruiters like American Express, Capillary Technologies, Bosch, Tata Motors, etc. offer an average package between 13 LPA to 15 LPA, and the average placement rate for this course is over 75%.  Even though the statistics for Electrical Engineering placements at IIT Bhubaneswar are better, IIT KGP offers a much stronger alumni network and a richer legacy. To add to this, the flexible curriculum of IIT KGP makes sure that its students can easily fit into any sector.  After considering all the factors, I would suggest you choose Industrial Systems Engineering at IIT KGP over Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar. But I would also point out that you must ultimately choose the branch which interests you the most. Read more

Ques. Should I choose BIT Mesra or NIT Agartala for production engineering?

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 19 Sept 23

Ans. Unquestionably BIT Mesra would be a better option than NIT Agartala. According to India Today BIT Mesra comes in third position among all top engineering colleges of India. There are several reasons to choose BIT Mesra over NIT Agartala they are as follows: Ranking: BIT Mesra ranked 53 among the top engineering colleges of India whereas NIT Agartala stood 91 among them. Placement: Last year in campus placement of BIT Mesra the highest package offered was INR 58.33 LPA and an average package of INR 13.01 LPA. Top recruiters like Hashed In, Persistent Systems, Cognizant, Daffodil Software, etc. visited the campus for placement. Infrastructure: The hostel rooms at BIT have great high-speed internet access. Almost every sort of resource is available. Campus life and dorm life are excellent. Alumni: Hemant Soren (CM of Jharkhand), V. Vaidyanathan (Managing director and CEO of IDFC First Bank), Rohit Pujari (Minister of State of Higher Education of Odisha), etc. are a few notable alumni of this organization. BIT Mesra offers a compelling opportunity for a solid academic foundation, good placement statistics, and a dynamic learning environment that is ideal for being a better choice than NIT Agartala.Read more

Ques. What should I take: computer science, IIT Ropar, or production and industrial engineering, IIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 01 Sept 23

Ans. Both IIT Delhi and IIT Ropar are highly reputable institutes in India, and both have strong programs in production industrial engineering and computer science engineering, respectively. However, if I were in your place, I would have chosen IIT Delhi Production and Industrial Engineering. Here are some strong points supporting my stance Location : Located in the capital city, IIT Delhi offers great access to coaching institutes for preparation for IAS, IES, GATE, or any other competitive exams. This won’t be possible at IIT Ropar. Reputation: IIT Delhi's Overall ranking by NIRF is 3 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023 while that of IIT Ropar is  33 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023. Reputation: IIT Delhi is not just an institute it’s a brand that every recruiter and student is aware of. Curriculum: IIT Delhi Production and Industrial Engineering has courses similar to Mechanical students so the job opportunities are also similar. Additionally, you can learn some management skills through subjects like industrial engineering subjects Quality control, Operations research, Production planning, and control, etc  Placements: IIT Delhi has a track record of excellent placements way better than IIT Ropar. It can further be understood through the table below Particulars  IIT Delhi IIT Ropar Highest CTC  INR 2 CPA INR 55 LPA Average CTC  INR 1.25 CPA INR 22.49 LPA Median CTC  - INR 16.62 LPA Top Recruiters American Express, Bajaj Auto, Boston Consulting Group, Enphase Solar Energy, Intel, Praxis Global Alliance, etc.   Google, Amazon, Ericsson Considering everything, IIT Delhi is a better option than IIT Ropar. The opportunities, brand name, and academic environment you will have access to will be unmatched. However, if you have a specific inclination towards the CS branch and want to pursue a career in the same, you can also consider joining IIT Ropar as the CS branch has diverse job opportunities even for the average students.Read more

Ques. How is production engineering at BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Indrani Pahari on 16 Aug 23

Ans. I am an alumnus of BIT Mesra and pursued my B.E. in Production Engineering from this institution. In my opinion, Production Engineering at BIT Mesra is an excellent course. BIT Mesra Production Engineering faculty is learned and supportive at the same time. If you want a job in the manufacturing/production industry, the curriculum over there is useful and interesting. However, a few topics in the curriculum are obsolete and an update is required with the advancement in technology and production practices.  Production Engineering at BIT Mesra has an almost negligible workload when compared to the other branches. The faculty is not as strict with quizzes and assignment submissions. With some effort, you will perform quite well academically. Placement-wise, Production Engineering at BIT Mesra is not an ideal branch. However, the top 10-15 students have a great chance of getting placed during campus recruitment. Not a good number of firms and industries related to this branch show up during campus recruitments. However, your skills and hard work will also determine your fate. During 2022, the placements for Production Engineering were decent with 33 students getting out of 42 registered students (and 36 eligible students). Thus, Production Engineering at BIT Mesra is a really good stream, but not an ideal one in terms of placements.Read more

Ques. BIT Mesra CS or RVCE CS?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 09 Aug 23

Ans. My sister is in her 3rd year of engineering at CSE RVCE. Earlier, she was going for BIT Mesra considering its better ranking and reputation over RVCE. But a friend asked her to reconsider her decision because RVCE CS placements are much better and with enough coding skills and a good CGPA, you can easily secure a 20+ LPA package. Bangalore as a city offers a plethora of opportunities and options, especially the young enthusiasts.  The institute has an active start-up culture and many students become entrepreneurs after a few years m. The BIT tag is slowly losing its credibility and worth as the quality of education is deteriorating day by day Bangalore's location offers more learning opportunities than Ranchi  The crowd here is very diverse so you get to experience a diverse culture and a new way of living that helps in personality grooming. RVCE has a management quota too so you will be surrounded by both talented as well as average students. Overall, I feel RVCE will offer better opportunities because of its excellent location in contrast to Ranchi.Read more

Ques. Which should I choose, fire and safety engineering or CSE in SOE of CUSAT?

● Top Answer By Anurag shrivastava on 09 Aug 23

Ans. For a safe and secure future, a good salary package and an easier job, I would suggest you choose Fire and Safety Engineering at SOE, CUSAT. On the other hand, if you are confident about your programming skills and knowledge, wish for a career in IT, and would be satisfied with a comparatively lower salary (probably), choose the CSE course at SOE, CUSAT. In Safety, the job profiles are less demanding and the competition is not as high as in CSE. CSE jobs are purely merit-based. To get into Amazon, Snapdeal, etc. with high packages of 11–14 LPA and above, you need to be very skilled and hardworking. Curriculum-wise, Safety is a lot easier and contains the basics of the branches- CE, ME, EEE & EC. Therefore, based on your personal preferences, choose your stream wisely. Both CSE and Safety at SOE, CUSAT are good courses.Read more
