How to Request SAT Testing Accommodations 2026?

Students with documented disabilities can request SAT accommodations to help them take the test fairly. These may include extra time, additional breaks, assistive technology, or a different testing setting, depending on the student’s needs.

Who Can Apply?

Students with a documented disability that affects test-taking, such as ADHD, learning disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, physical conditions, or medical issues. The accommodation must match what the student uses in school. Poor performance alone does not qualify.

How to Apply?

The preferred method is through your school’s SSD (Services for Students with Disabilities) coordinator, such as a counselor or special educator. If your school does not have one, you can apply directly by submitting the Student Eligibility Form with required documents to the College Board.

What documents are needed?

Medical reports showing the disability and need for accommodations. Documents must be recent, clear, and in English (or officially translated).

When to apply?

Apply as early as possible (typically 2-3 months before your test date). Some requests are approved in about a week, while others can take up to 7 weeks. Late approvals may not be available on test day.

After approval

You will receive an SSD eligibility code. Use this code during SAT registration to select your approved accommodations. Accommodations cannot be added or changed on exam day.

The SAT accommodation request deadlines are given below.

Exam Date Accommodation Request Deadline
