Germany has emerged as a popular study abroad destination for Indian students, with 60,000 enrolments by late 2025. Some of the main reasons are affordable tuition fees, a safe country and scholarship opportunities. Germany offers a wide range of biotechnology programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Most of the public universities in Germany do not charge any tuition fees from international students. However, they charge a certain amount of semester contribution (EUR 97-466) every semester.
Some of the popular universities featured by QS are: Technical University of Munich (#22), Heidelberg University (#80) and Technical University Berlin (#145). The monthly cost of living is EUR 883-1,978 (INR 96,980-2.1 lakh). Additionally, students can benefit from universities, as well as government scholarships like the DAAD Scholarship for international students. This fully funded, prestigious scholarship offers a monthly stipend up to EUR 992-1,300 (INR 1.08-1.4 lakh), study allowance, travel allowance, and more.
