Quick Review - M.Sc WASTE, University of Stuttgart

I applied to 3 Universities. I received confirmed admission from Universität Hamburg and Universität Stuttgart.  I got a wait listed for Universität Heidelberg and I am still waiting for a response from them :)  In case of Universität Heidelberg maybe I have less credits in Theoretical computer science subject which could be the reason for wait listing. The University is part of prestigious TU9 group with Industrial areas nearby. The application deadline is quite early as compared to other Universities. You need to apply on the college Campus portal IELTS(6 band) and GRE(Not compulsory but recommended) The application deadline being too early is the only challenge that I faced. Other than it is a straightforward standard process. I applied for 2024-25 Winter Semester Intake The admission process take at least 2-3 months starting from application Application takes less than 1 day, also there is no application fee required. Universität Stuttgart (MSc CS): Accepted I did not apply to any other universities, as I had received an acceptance letter from Universität stuttgart quite early and it was number 2 priority for me. Selected University: Universität Stuttgart Reason: bigger city with many companies (higher working student opportunities) Admission process: They have their application portal. Register on that. Documents to be submitted (Digital copies): - Transcripts - Degree certificate - IELTS/TOEFL certificate (6.5 or more required) - Form listing subjects in bachelor's (this can be downloaded from the portal itself). - Optionally LORs, GRE and Letter of motivation. Once submitted, a few weeks after the deadline, you will receive acceptance or rejection mail. Acceptance criteria: Not explicitly mentioned but takes into consideration your bachelor subjects and your final bachelors score. Work experience does not count. I chose purely based on the course. The experimental physics department is awesome here. Also, we have the possibility of collaborations with the Max Plank institute. The universities I applied to: Admitted – University of Stuttgart, Karlsruhe institute of technology Rejected - TU Munich, RWTH Aachen, TU Darmstadt ; before applying to the colleges, check out if the courses they provide match with the subjects you have taken in your bachelor's. If the university feels the basics required for that particular course is not sufficient, then they reject the application, except in the case you have a great cover letter Availability of Power Electronics as a Major; The admission process is, you just need to fill the application form from the site and provide the necessary documents and in case of doubts, you can directly write to the admission department and they will clear your doubts and within a month or two, the results will be out and gives you ample amount of time to do your visa process. IELTS band more than 7 for courses in english; the admission process was quite smooth, not that much problems I applied to the winter intake, as part 1 of most of the subjects are taught in this semester and most of the courses are offered in this semester. Apart from this, if everything goes right, the course gets finished in the month f october or november which and the next 6 months are the major hiring period for the companies. I have applied to four universities and received admission from three of them. TU Hamburg – Received admission in Microelectronics and Microsystems. Schmalkalden university of Applied Sciences—Received admission in Mechatronics and Robotics University of Siegen—Rejected for the Erasmus Masters in Embedded Systems. I have primary experience in VLSI and my coursework in bachelor's is also focused on VLSI. I believe this could be one of the reasons for my rejection, as they required exposure to Embedded systems and Robotics. I also feel that I did not make a strong application, as this was lower on my priority list. University of Stuttgart—Received admission in Electrical Engineering, which I'm currently pursuing. Got rejected for Computer Science as my profile did not match with the course requirements. I have chosen the University of Stuttgart because it has good master's programs and strong industrial connections. It also has strong international student support and getting a master's degree from this University is valued by top companies. The admission process was fairly simple. Applicants need to register in the CAMPUS portal and apply for their desired program in the same portal. The portal guides on all the application steps and the documents required. Once the application is done, the committee reviews your profile and communicates the result through email. The eligibility criteria for the English-speaking master's program are to have an IELTS score of at least 7 for confirmed admission. GRE and other scores are not required for STEM-related fields. You also require an APS certificate for the admission of international students. The overall admission process was simple and very fast. The admission results are generally announced around January for Winter Semester. This makes other processes, such as Visa, etc., much smoother. I have applied to Winter intake in October 2024. I started my application process around April 2023, when I received my APS certificate. The deadline for application is usually June-July 2023. It is best to apply for the APS certificate in advance; it's better to have it by March. The application results took around six months and the admission result was announced around January 2024.
