Course Curriculum

8

  • The course has equally difficult and equally easy courses; it depends on what your likings are and what you have experience with. The subjects are often mixed with practice exercises to get a deep understanding of the subject. The classes start from 8:00 in the morning to 5:15 in the afternoon with a 1-hr lunch break and 15 mins between each lecture. Each lecture is 1.30 hr. Number of students depends on the subject, typically between 10 and 200. And 50-60% would be Indian students for Electrical and IT courses

Admission Experience

  • Admit from University of Stuttgart, TU Freiburg, TU Hamberg
  • Rejection from TU Munich
  • I got accepted in the 1st Round of TU Munich, but was missed by a slight margin during the 2nd interview round. As they were looking for someone who has experience with both IT and Electronics, and at that point, I didn't had much experience with Electronics.
  • And for Admits, I think my work experience, bachelor thesis and bachelor grades, were the most important parameters for getting those admits.
  • There was not much of admission process, we just had to apply for the university and there was no interview as of such. And for my scores: IELTS is 7.5 and 314 GRE, along with 6 Month of Research Internship and 1 year of IT Job experience.
  • I have selected this university because of its TU9 brand of Germany and the post research experience possibility.
  • If you have good bachelor grade and some job experience, then getting a seat here won't be much of an issue.
  • Intake applied for: Winter 2024
  • I applied for this university on December 2023 and got Admit in April 2024.
  • The university usually has 2 intakes, summer which stats from April and Winter which starts form October.
  • It took approx 3-5 months on average to get admission. They checked my entire profile, work experience, bachelor grades, bachelor thesis, internship work.

Faculty

10

  • 1 faculty member + 2-3 tutors for 20-150 students typically. It is pretty easy to interact and ask doubts. The teaching methodology is very good and people generally understand everything that has been taught. Some professors would help to find part-time work, but for that you need to ask them.
  • Student tutors who assist the professor are very easy to connect with and ask for doubts, and as they are students themselves, it becomes easy.

Campus Life

4

  • Campus Vaihingen (majorly for STEM fields) and Stadtmitte Campus for other fields.
  • All major sports facilities are available at the campus Vaihingen. Also The Library and medical services are available. There are various festivals happening year around like holi, diwali, easter, christmas, semester opening, and many more.
  • There are 2-3 student clubs on the campus and various cultural activities happening every month.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are not many students getting teaching assistant roles, but getting research assistant roles is quite easy and many students are getting them. Maximum hours would be about 15-20 hrs per week. Pay range is between 13 and 15 €/hour of work.
  • For example, 5-10% of students in a class can get research assistant positions on campus, so it is not very hard to get one as well.
  • For part-time jobs, if they are odd jobs, then you can get somewhere around 13-14€ and for jobs in companies, it is somewhere between 15 and 22€ per hour. Getting part-time jobs currently is probably very difficult right now for many students. As many are searching for it and not all are getting it, I would say only 5% are even getting an interview, and from that, also very few are actually getting a job.

Placement

8

  • I am not quite sure but landing a full-time job in the current situation is next to impossible. Probably 1-2 from the batch of 60-70 have gotten a full-time job. College recruiting is not a thing here, but there are job fairs, and they are not very effective. Only having a network would help to land an interview for full-time roles.
  • Major companies nearby are Bosch, Mercedes and Porsche, and all are not hiring anymore. So try to connect with people, and then you might have some chances to land a full-time permanent job in some medium-to-small company.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • We can use the university online portal to get accommodation, and here on the campus there are plenty of options. Monthly rent is 350-400€ for students. It is on the campus so hardly it takes 350-500 meters to reach any lecture hall.
  • I would say it is not the best and not the worst; it's okayish for the price and you can't complain, as private rooms cost €600-1200 per month, so this is quite affordable for students.

Exams

  • You need IELTS 7+ band, 2 LOR, CV, LOM, GRE (optional), work experience (optional if your bachelor grades are excellent)
  • There was no interview process; everything was done on their end; they didn't even contact me during their process. They just gave me the admit on April and that's it.
  • But they verified all the documents before giving the Admits to anyone.

Fees

  • Fees: 1800€/semester
  • Dorm: 350-400€/month
  • Insurance: 150€/month
  • Traveling: 40-60€/month
  • Groceries: 200-300€/month
  • Miscellaneous: 100-200€/month
  • So it equates to approx 1000-1300€ per month including everything in Stuttgart, it includes travelling to nearby countries, germany wide transportation, travelling to nearby citiy, insurances, tution fees, accomodation, food, restaurants, everything.

Scholarship

  • I haven't received any scholarship, but some of my friends have received Deutschlandstipendium, which gives €300 every month.
  • On average it is received by approx 20-30 students in the entire department (which has probably 1000). They check for extracurricular activities, grades, work experience, how much they have contributed to the society and many other parameters.
