IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Industrial & Production Engineering and IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering both offer solid placements, but the financial aspect makes IIT Delhi a smarter choice for many. With an average package of 18 lakhs and over 90% placement rate, IIT Delhi seems to provide better ROI despite its higher fees. While IIT Kharagpur has good exposure and faculty, it lacks specific placement data, making it hard to gauge its financial benefits accurately. Scholarships at IIT Delhi can assist economically weaker sections, adding to its value.

If you're looking for strong placement prospects and the potential for higher earnings, IIT Delhi is the way to go; however, if a broader engineering discipline appeals to you and you're less concerned about immediate returns, IIT Kharagpur could still be a good fit.

IIT KGP's Instrumentation Engineering is a circuit branch, and you'll find plenty of opportunities there.

Here's how to rank your options:

  • 1. IIT KGP Instrumentation
  • 2. IIT Delhi Industrial & Production Engineering
  • 3. IIT Delhi Chemical Engineering

Also, IIT Mandi CSE is a solid choice, but stick with the above options if you can!

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Industrial & Production Engineering stands out with its strong curriculum, excellent faculty, and impressive placement rates, with over 90% of students getting placed in top companies like Microsoft and Google, averaging around 18 lakhs. The campus life is vibrant, with regular fests and a supportive student community. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering offers a solid education as well, but details on placements seem less robust, and the campus culture might not be as lively.

Personally, I'd lean towards IIT Delhi for its better exposure and placement opportunities, especially if you're aiming for a competitive edge in tech fields. If you prioritize a dynamic campus experience and high placement prospects, go for IIT Delhi. If you're more into a quieter academic environment, IIT Kharagpur could be a good fit.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Industrial & Production Engineering offers impressive placements with over 90% of students getting hired by top companies like Microsoft and Google, boasting an average package of around 18 lakhs. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering also has a strong placement record but lacks specific average package data. While both institutions provide good faculty and resources, IIT Delhi edges ahead due to its stronger corporate connections and higher average packages. If you're looking for better job prospects and higher salaries, IIT Delhi would be the better choice, especially if you have a strong interest in production and industrial processes.

I would recommend the following preference order:

  • 1. IIT KGP Instrumentation (This branch is circuital, which means more opportunities!)
  • 2. IIT D Chemical Eng. (Chemical Engineering is a solid choice, especially at IIT Delhi.)
  • 3. IIT D Eng Physics (Engineering Physics is known to be a tough branch in IITs, hence its position after Chemical.)
  • 4. IIT Mandi CS (Prioritize the college over the branch; it wouldn't be wise to leave IIT Delhi just for CS.)
