Choosing MBBS from AIIMS Delhi over Lady Hardinge Medical College is definitely a significant decision! Here’s why:

  • World-Class Faculty: AIIMS Delhi boasts some of the best faculty in the country. You’ll be learning from experts in various fields.
  • Resources: The resources available at AIIMS are top-notch. This includes access to advanced technology and facilities.
  • Clinical Exposure: You’ll get unparalleled clinical exposure. This is crucial for hands-on learning and real-world experience.
  • Research Opportunities: There are chances to engage in research on an international platform. This can enhance your academic profile.

However, it’s important to note that getting into AIIMS requires a genius-level mindset and immense hard work. Students who make it there are not only intelligent but also incredibly dedicated.

Now, students in other AIIMS-like institutes are also bright and carry the AIIMS tag, which is globally recognized. But they may not receive the same depth of learning as at AIIMS Delhi.

Then, there are those studying in top-tier colleges like KGMU, MAMC, and AFMC. They’re also pursuing their dreams and have a fair chance of success.

Lastly, students in average colleges may feel a mix of emotions. Some are content with securing a college seat, while others might regret not making it to their dream college but couldn’t try again for various reasons.

These are just my personal opinions!

Will use AIIMS Bhubaneswar as a comparator here.

  • Hostel Infrastructure: AIIMS > LHMC. AIIMS provides single rooms from the 2nd Year onwards. No restrictions on modifications or use of electrical appliances. Freedom is better here.
  • Sports Facilities: Again, AIIMS.
  • Peer Group: Academically and culturally much more versatile.
  • Faculties: Both colleges have good faculties. The faculty selection procedure at AIIMS is more stringent, but I would say AIIMS = LHMC. Faculty numbers should be almost the same. AIIMS has superspecialty departments that LHMC's associated hospitals lack. Faculty-student ratio is definitely better at AIIMS.
  • Campus and Activities: The campus area of AIIMS is larger. This is subjective. AIIMS has a more varied campus activity due to its diverse student population and higher budget allocation for such events. Clubs and societies are likely similar. The fest at LHMC is comparable to any other state medical college fest. AIIMS has a bigger campus and budget for fests, so those events are larger, but the footfall may not match that of Delhi college fests, given Delhi's status as a huge metro.
  • PG Coachings and Output: Peripheral AIIMS have enough evidence to support their effectiveness.

AIIMS Delhi clearly stands out when comparing MBBS programs at AIIMS Delhi and Lady Hardinge Medical College, especially in terms of internships and career prospects. At AIIMS, the internship begins in the 5th year, offering extensive clinical exposure and a stipend of around 30,000, which is among the highest in the country. The faculty-to-student ratio is impressive, allowing for personalized attention from top experts, which enhances learning and future job placements.

In contrast, while Lady Hardinge Medical College is a reputable institution, it doesn't offer the same level of clinical exposure or financial incentives during internships. Therefore, for those who prioritize strong placements and comprehensive training, choosing AIIMS Delhi for MBBS is definitely worth it. If you're serious about a robust medical career, AIIMS is the way to go.

AIIMS Delhi is a clear winner when it comes to ROI and value for money compared to Lady Hardinge Medical College. With a total fee of just Rs.5,856 for the entire MBBS program, the financial burden is minimal, especially considering the high stipend of Rs.30,000 during internships, which is among the highest in the country. While Lady Hardinge is a respected institution, the extensive curriculum, superior faculty, and clinical exposure at AIIMS prepare you better for a successful medical career. If you can manage the rigorous schedule, AIIMS offers unmatched opportunities, making it the smarter choice for aspiring doctors. However, if you're looking for a less intense environment and a good education, Lady Hardinge could still be a solid option.

Absolutely!

Not being an Aiimsonian myself, I’d like to share some insights.

First things first: Freedom. That’s what everyone craves, and it thrives at AIIMS, unlike many other colleges.

  • No one wants to be told what to do! This isn’t kindergarten. Let your own neurons fire, for goodness' sake!
  • I often picture myself as a little frog in a well, thinking, “Oh, this is it. This is how the world looks.” It’s a bit limiting, isn’t it?

The quality of education and the teaching staff have a significant impact.

  • The students and the overall atmosphere? Yes, they’re different.
  • The hospital and OP are top-notch. Research opportunities at AIIMS are far better than in other colleges. Amazing, right?

It’s not all about academics, though. They excel in every other aspect of life. The exposure they receive is incredible.

AIIMS is a beautiful chapter that can leave lasting memories in anyone's life. So wherever you are, just relax and stay cool! B)
