AIIMS Delhi Placements: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 257 Reviews

AIIMS Delhi does not have formal campus placements like other institutions, as it is a medical college. Instead, career progression is achieved through internships, post-MBBS employment opportunities, and further academic or professional training. Most students pursue post-graduation either in India or abroad, with some choosing to work in prestigious healthcare institutions.

AIIMS graduates are highly sought after, with 100% placement in government hospitals, especially AIIMS itself. The average salary for MBBS graduates ranges from 5 to 10 lakhs per annum, increasing significantly after specialization. Internships are mandatory for MBBS students, lasting one year, and include rural postings. The internship stipend is approximately 17,900 to 26,000 INR per month.

Postgraduate students receive higher stipends, with senior students earning up to 74,000 INR per month during their internships.

The placement cell is there which is very unique. Deserving students get placed in aiims only depending on the vacancy. Students in the final year who are on the verge of completing of internship can be eligible for placement. Various companies such as Damsung, Toshiba, Siemens, GE healthcare etc come for selection. The highest package from our course went to 12lakh at starting. I plan to move to the UK for betterment as many seniors of mine are well-settled in the UK.

There are no direct placements after MBBS as most people opt for post graduation courses. However, after completing MBBS from AIIMS Delhi, getting a job as a general physician in most of the private medical colleges becomes easy. These jobs have salaries around 60 - 80 thousand per month initially. Many graduates choose to pursue their post-graduation from the USA. A student from AIIMS has a higher chance of being cleared for these courses. The stipend during the internship is 17,900 per month.

AIIMS Delhi: 13 Answered Questions

Is it worth doing an MBBS at AIIMS Delhi if my main goal is to land a high-paying job??

OddOctopus

It really depends on the specialty chosen for PG.

  • Many PGs end up teaching in medical colleges or working in hospitals.
  • The reality is, they often can't lead a lavish lifestyle.
  • They have to be content with the salary they receive.

So, if a high-paying job is your main goal, consider your specialty carefully!

Is it worth doing a B.Sc Operation Theatre Technology from AIIMS Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

StarlightRebel

I have not worked in any theatre in India without an anaesthesia technician. They are definitely needed in established corporate hospitals or any large medical facility.

  • Smaller hospitals may not hire technicians to cut costs.
  • Yes, the pay isn't very high, but people are managing their households on that salary.

Is it worth doing a B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing from AIIMS Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

RenegadeRadish

I’m currently in my first year of B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing at AIIMS Delhi and let me tell you, it’s been an exciting journey! The faculty here is super supportive, and even with 100 students in class, they manage to clear our doubts effectively. The internship is a major highlight; we get hands-on experience while also earning some money. The total fees are minimal compared to other colleges, which makes it even more appealing. After we graduate, passing the NORCET can land us a nursing officer job in AIIMS with a decent salary. So yes, I think it's totally worth it!

Is it worth doing an B.Sc (Nursing) at AIIMS Delhi if my main goal is to land a high-paying job??

AbstractApe

I would totally recommend the B.Sc (Nursing) course at AIIMS Delhi if you're looking for a high-paying job. The practical exposure we get from the second month itself is invaluable. The internship is particularly beneficial, with Rs 13,000 as pay during the last six months. Plus, once you clear the NORCET exam after graduation, landing a central government nursing officer position is pretty much a sure thing, and the salary is quite attractive. The fees are also extremely reasonable, which is a huge plus. So, if you’re serious about nursing, AIIMS is definitely worth considering!

How is B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing branch at AIIMS Delhi? What about its placement in 2025/26??

GalacticHoneycomb

I'm currently pursuing B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing at AIIMS Delhi, and it's been quite a journey. The curriculum is pretty comprehensive, although I sometimes feel that diving deep into subjects like anatomy and physiology isn't always practical for us as nursing officers. The good part is we start our ward training from the second month of the first year, which really helps us gain hands-on experience early on.

Looking ahead to 2026, I believe our placements will be solid, especially since we’ll be eligible for the NORCET exam, which can lead to a government job with a decent salary. Plus, the internship at AIIMS itself pays around Rs 13,000 for six months, which is a nice bonus.

What is the in hand salary of students who graduated from MBBS AIIMS Delhi??

I graduated in April 2022. Right after graduation, I started working as a Junior Resident in a government hospital in Delhi. My in-hand salary was 1.17 lakhs per month.

After a couple of months, I got selected as a Medical Officer under HCMS (Haryana Civil Medical Services). The salary in Haryana was slightly lower compared to Delhi. My current salary is 1 lakh 5 thousand, including allowances.

My basic pay in both jobs was 56k. In private hospitals, MBBS graduates earn around 40k. (Strictly talking about Delhi NCR; not sure about salaries in other states.)

What is the average Package in AIIMS Delhi in B.Sc (Nursing)??

ForgottenNightly

Starting salary:

  • Group A salary: 68,000 - 76,000 INR
  • Group B salary: 63,000 - 68,000 INR

Details:

  • Starting Basic: 44,900 INR
  • DA: 17% of 44,900 = 7,633 INR (for X class cities like Delhi, Mumbai, etc.)
  • Nursing Allowance: 7,200 INR
  • Washing Allowance: 1,800 INR
  • Transport Allowance (in X class cities): 3,600 + DA = 4,212 INR (DA 17% as of Dec 2019)

Total Salary:
44,900 + 7,633 + 7,200 + 1,800 + 4,212 = 76,521 INR/month. This amounts to 918,252 INR per annum.

Additionally, the government contributes 10% of Basic + DA (i.e., 5,253 INR at current rates) to your NPS Tier 1 Account. This adds another 63,036 INR to your CTC.

You also receive tuition fee reimbursement of 54,000 INR per annum for 2 kids. Plus, there’s a bonus amount of 6,774 INR (ad hoc bonus) or up to 23,000 INR (PLB bonus) once a year.

Moreover, DA increases twice a year, six months apart, as announced by the government, along with an increment of approximately 3% of the Basic salary annually.

CTC is then approximately:
918,252 + 63,036 + 54,000 + 6,774 = 1,042,062 INR.

Additionally, you will receive hometown tickets for your family for the first 3 years and all-India tickets in the 4th year in a block of 4 years. This continues for a total of 8 years for a fresh recruit.

Is it worth doing a MBBS from AIIMS Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

SerpentineRefrain

MBBS is a fundamental degree in Medicine. Nowadays, everyone is aiming for a PG—MD, MS, etc.—for a better income. Here are some key points:

  • There is no campus placement in most medical colleges in India.
  • MBBS graduates are referred to as Junior Doctors.
  • They can find jobs in private hospitals or government hospitals (through PSC).

It's advisable to clear the PG entrance and pursue MD or MS or specializations like Cardiology or Gynecology, which are lucrative fields!
