Career-wise, you should consider DTU/NSIT; there are plenty of opportunities there. However, if you want the IIT tag for pursuing an MBA or MS, that name carries weight.

IMPORTANT:
The reality today is that for a high-paying job, you need to be good at coding, and that's it. At IIT, you can sit for placements with any company, regardless of your branch, but that's not the case at DTU/NSIT.

In IIT, you get a better peer group compared to DTU. There are many OBC, SC, ST, and PWD students, and a significant portion of the college is reserved for these categories. Many students also have questionable certifications, so you can expect a varied peer group.

IIT Delhi is the number one college in India, and in many aspects, it's superior to DTU/NSIT.

If I were in your position, I would definitely choose IIT Delhi over DTU/NSIT.

I would lean towards B.Tech in Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi. Here’s why:

  • If you have a strong interest in Computer Science, you can always attempt a department change later.
  • Remember, a B.Tech is just a stepping stone. You can transition between branches in the future by taking elective courses in your desired field.
  • IITs have global recognition, and that brand carries significant weight.

Ultimately, the choice is yours!

If you don't have a strong reason to pursue Computer Science Engineering, I would recommend considering Chemical Engineering. Here’s why:

  • Future Demand: There is an anticipated global shortage of process engineers in the coming years. Many companies are already struggling to find qualified chemical engineers for projects involving process modeling.
  • Specialization Advantage: Being a domain specialist can be incredibly valuable, especially when so many are flocking to the IT sector.
  • Respect in IT: While IT offers attractive salaries, having contextual knowledge in a specialized field can earn you more respect if you later transition into IT.
  • Flexibility: IT is always an option to explore later in your career.

And let’s not forget the prestige that comes with IIT Delhi! If possible, consider incorporating some Computer Science courses into your curriculum there. It could provide a great balance.

Both IIT Delhi for B.Tech in Chemical Engineering and IIIT Hyderabad for B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offer exceptional opportunities, but they cater to different interests. IIT Delhi has a strong reputation and a diverse curriculum that covers essential chemical engineering topics, along with a vibrant campus life filled with numerous clubs and activities. The placement stats are impressive, with 85% students getting placed in top firms across various sectors.

On the flip side, IIIT Hyderabad is renowned for its cutting-edge Computer Science program, which is more tech-focused and attracts major tech companies. If you're leaning towards traditional engineering with a broader career scope, go for IIT Delhi; however, if you have a strong passion for tech and coding, IIIT Hyderabad might be your best bet. Personally, I would choose IIIT Hyderabad for its specialized curriculum and tech-oriented environment, which aligns better with the current job market trends.
