IIIT-H is relatively new compared to IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, being just 15 years old. However, placements at IIIT-H have shown significant promise in recent years. Students have been successfully placed in several top-tier companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Facebook, and more. Given enough time, IIIT-H could potentially surpass many IITs in terms of placements.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers a solid placement rate of 85% with top recruiters like Google and Amazon, which is impressive, especially considering the tuition fees of around 1 lakh per semester. Meanwhile, IIIT Hyderabad's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering likely has a similar or better placement rate due to the tech focus, but their tuition can be higher, depending on the course specifics. While IIT Delhi provides various scholarships to ease financial burdens, IIIT Hyderabad's ROI might be better for those leaning towards tech careers, especially given the rising demand for computer science graduates. If you're inclined towards a traditional engineering path with diverse opportunities, IIT Delhi could be the smarter financial choice, but if you're focused on tech and software, IIIT Hyderabad might offer better returns in the long run.

IIIT Hyderabad stands out when it comes to average package placements!

  • Only the top 6–7 IITs have annual packages exceeding Rs 1 crore, with average packages typically around Rs 10–20 LPA.
  • The rest of the IITs usually see highest packages in the range of Rs 40–60 LPA.

Now, looking at IIIT Hyderabad, the highest package was Rs 85 LPA, and the average package was Rs 25 LPA in 2020.

The average package at IIIT Hyderabad competes closely with IIT Bombay, which is why it’s such an appealing choice!

IITs have an advantage when it comes to the variety of companies that visit for placements. Here's a breakdown:

  • Diverse Companies: IIT Delhi attracts a broad range of firms, including consultancy, quant roles, and finance companies that typically don't visit IIIT Hyderabad.
  • Software Companies: Almost all software firms that recruit from IITs also consider candidates from IIIT-H.

So, while IIIT-H is strong in tech placements, IIT Delhi offers a wider array of opportunities!

IIT Delhi’s B.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers a robust curriculum with strong placements, particularly in IT and finance, boasting an 85% placement rate with top companies like Amazon and Google. In contrast, IIIT Hyderabad’s B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering focuses on a tech-centric curriculum, often leading to high placements in software and tech startups, but specific placement stats weren't available. Both colleges have vibrant campus life and excellent faculty, yet IIT Delhi edges ahead with a broader range of industries for placements. Personally, I’d recommend IIT Delhi for those looking for diverse opportunities across various sectors, while IIIT Hyderabad is ideal for students laser-focused on tech and software careers.
