IIM Udaipur boasts some of the best professors from older IIMs teaching marketing electives as visiting faculty. The Director of IIM Udaipur is very dynamic.

And remember, an IIM is an IIM - the experience here is hard to match against most other institutes, except for other tier 1 schools like XLRI, SP Jain, FMS Delhi (which is not a residential program), NITIE, TAPMI, etc.

DoMS at IIT Madras offers a solid MBA program and may have decent placements as well. The institute has been around for more than 50 years, with an alumni network close to 50,000. Some of the marketing faculty there are excellent.

You should definitely check the list of marketing electives offered at both institutes before making a final decision.

Ultimately, it's your choice whether you want to join the IIT alumni network (23 institutes, over 300,000 alumni across diverse fields) or the IIM network (20 institutes, around 70,000 alumni mostly in business roles). Both have their advantages and disadvantages!

IIM Udaipur offers a vibrant campus life with numerous clubs and events, making it great for networking and socializing, while IIM Nagpur also provides a good experience but with less detailed information available about its extracurricular activities. The faculty and curriculum at both institutes are strong, but IIM Udaipur is known for its research capabilities and has a more extensive network of companies for internships and placements, even if the latter can be hit or miss. If placements and a dynamic campus life are your priorities, IIM Udaipur might be the better choice, whereas those seeking a slightly quieter environment with good academics might find IIM Nagpur more fitting. Personally, I would lean towards IIM Udaipur for the overall student experience and opportunities.

I had to jump in on this question! My experience at IIM Udaipur has been fantastic. Why, you ask?

  • Academics: The curriculum and courses are top-notch. The faculty is impressive. Activities and class participation were engaging and truly eye-opening.
  • Placements: Sure, when compared to older IIMs or other private institutes, there’s a difference in the packages offered. However, the average package is on the rise, and new companies are joining the recruitment list every year.
  • Campus Life: The campus is beautiful, hostels are well-maintained, and the mess food is delicious! Clubs and events are quite active.

So, IIM Udaipur is a great choice for an MBA. I had options from CAP IIMs and IITs but chose IIM U for its global ranking and rapid growth. I still miss IIM U!

IIM Udaipur and IIM Nagpur both have their strengths, but when it comes to placements and internships, IIM Udaipur seems to have a slight edge. IIM Udaipur boasts an average package of around 19.5 Lakh with significant companies like Accenture and Pidilite coming for internships, even if some internships pay less. In contrast, IIM Nagpur's data is less detailed, but if it mirrors the trend of newer IIMs, it might struggle with placement visibility and package sizes. Therefore, if you're looking for better job prospects and a more established brand, I would recommend IIM Udaipur, especially for those who prioritize internships and a robust placement record. IIM Nagpur could be a good fit for students seeking a more intimate campus experience or those looking to be part of a growing institution.

IIM Udaipur charges around 22 lakhs for its MBA program, but students might end up spending more due to additional expenses, while IIM Nagpur's fees are similarly structured, but with less detailed financial data available. IIM Udaipur has a higher average package of 19.5 lakhs compared to IIM Nagpur's, along with more established internship opportunities, though both are relatively new IIMs. Scholarship opportunities at IIM Udaipur seem limited for general category students, which might make ROI a concern. Overall, if you're looking for better placement prospects and campus life, IIM Udaipur might be the smarter financial choice, but if you prefer a more intimate setting with potentially lower competition, IIM Nagpur could be your pick.
