The culture and the life of college is great. The placements are superb. The people here are very exploring in nature. Our college is the best in the state and one of best in India. It is growing and developing at a very high pace. More and more companies are visiting. Infrastructure is expanding. I am sure IIT ISM Dhanbad will be among top 10 engineering colleges of India within next few years.

The first year has a mixture of courses. There are courses on electronics, mathematics, computer, English, geology, human resources, electrical, chemistry, mechanics, engineering drawing, and various labs. Exams are divided into midsem and endsem. Midsem cover leaser syllabus and has 40% weightage. From second year onwards the subjects corresponding to respective branches are taught while some still have one or two non-core or elective subjects.

Placement scenario in branches like computer science, mathematics and computing, petroleum and mining is outstanding. Multinational companies like Adobe, Microsoft, amazon, Goldman Sachs, Schlumberger, Samsung are campus visitors. They offer internships too in the pre final year. The placement packages range from 8 lac- 40 lac CTC in computer related branches, 6-30lac CTC in mining and petroleum related branches. The scenario of mechanical and civil is relatively less.

College hosts a lot of cultural and technical fests. Srijan is the prime cultural fest that sees participants across India. There are events like DJ night, Band performance, fine arts, fashion show, dancing, music etc. There is a main technical fest named Concetto where all the events are technology related. Besides that there are departmental fests going on every time round the year.

Fee is quite affordable as it is a government college. For people with income below government set standards, have to pay very less fee. Also people from backward castes are given fee waivers. There are also various government run scholarship programmes. Hostel fees is very minimal.

Olympic Size swimming pool,Cricket Ground, Football Ground, Hockey Ground,Badminton,Basket BAll,Lawn Tennis,Table Tennis, Squash, Pool, Billards, Boxing Arena,Karate,GYM are some of the things that student activity centre offers. There are more than 40 clubs in the campus: Abhay Dramatics Club, LITC, Artfreaks, ROBOISM ,LITM, ACM, Manthan, ToastMasters, MechISMu, FotoFreaks, AIESEC. The labs are built according to national standards and offer cutting edge technology.

There are 9-10 hostels at IIT ISM Dhanbad. The boys hostels are average whereas girls hostels are way better than that of boys. The facilities are decent. There if WiFi and LAN for internet. Then there are two canteens in every hostel. There is basketball, volleyball court, table tennis in various hostels. One can enjoy good even at 2:00 am. The rooms are two seater in every hostel. There are mess on every floor. There are common rooms in hostels too.

IIT ISM has a vast alumni base. The alumni is also very helpful. They are constant in giving sponsorship and finding to the college whenever required. Junior Senior relationship is something at next level especially in CSE department. Seniors are very helpful at each and every step. They are club leaders of various clubs and mentor the students at different activities

By clearing JEE Main and Advanced. The seats are allotted through Josaa counselling. After the announcement of the JEE Advanced result & JEE Main (AIR), the JoSAA 2017 counselling is started. Only those candidates are able to participate in the counselling process who have secured rank in the rank list. Registration, filling & locking choices, seat acceptance fee payment process is done via online mode. Document verification and other reporting process is conducted through offline mode.Students are needed to appear at the reporting centre for document verification process. Candidates have to report to the centre at the prescribed date & time. The list of document verification centre will be published through the website. Don’t forget to bring the required original documents along with the photocopies. In case of candidate fails to produce the documents, the allotted seat will be cancelled. In case candidates have selected the float option and they have allotted a better seat in the further counselling rounds, then the candidates are needed to report again for document verification and seat acceptance. After completing the seat allocation, seat acceptance and document verification process, candidates are required to report to the allotted college or university. After reporting, students have to complete further admission formalities to confirm admission.

Faculty is highly knowledgeable. Many are international award recepiants for there research works. They have outstanding command over teaching and know the current educational system very well. Most of the professors have vast teaching experience. They have hundreds of theory papers under there signature. Teachers are well natured and co-operative.
