Remarks
Positive don't expect gyaan to be diseminated through formal education build a great informal network which would provide you with tools one would need to survive post education. Such a network is possible only if one take admission in a college which is
Entrance Preview
CET I was ranked 1212 I did not choose the course but the college i had no specific preference for the course. NIT being the topmost regional Engg college was my preference number 2 after PEC.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is good and the college has sufficient number of equipment to train the students. Industry experience though is important, the field is so vast that one cannot gain experience in all the areas. Thus when one joins the industry, it always looks like more should have been taught which is no practically possible so the course is designed in a way to teach something about almost everything in Textile technology.
Internships Opportunities
No there was no internship in the college but recently a few candidates are pursuing PhD and also teaching in the college so could not comment clearly on the current status.
Placement Experience
Being a reputed engg college, the placement opportunities are extremely interesting one can get opportunities out of the blue to join companies of cross disciplines for the Textile Branch though, NIT Jalandhar is a very important recruitment ground for all the major textile companies in India.
College Events
The events now have changed dramatically. In 2001, we only had one annual fest and a freshers party but now the events range from Business Plan competitions to cultural events and robotics workshops. This answer would be better given by current students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible fee structure being a Govt funded institute, the fee structure is nominal and if you have got admission in NIT it is even easier to get student loans the fee structure now is approximately 1 lac per year along with the accommodation which is slated to change next year.
Fees and Financial Aid
I personally did not avail any scholarship and am not aware of any such scholarship being given by the college management.
Campus Life
Campus life is very happening as the peers are a great lot one could have regular parties within the hostel or outside and there shall be least disturbance gender ratio was extremely poor our batch of 40 students had 5 females in textile technology and it was almost the case with all branches while earlier being a regional engg college we had 50% students from states other than Punjab, the ethnicity mix was amazing and we learnt a lot but due to discontinuance of this arrangement, students tend to loose a critical learning component.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels rooms were decent toilets were extremely poorly maintained and mess had one of the worst foods but later we realized that food in almost all engg college messes is a disaster though toilets could be better managed even in the new hostels, toilets
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network has been created just recently and is currently not very actively involved due to the college not being quite serious, on managing this network, not much value has been extracted till now but in the past 2 years this attitude is slowly changing.
Exam Structure
The schedule is not very hectic one has to complete 75% attendance and go through 3 unit tests and a semester test which could be easily managed as CBSE board is alligned to this pattern now, it would be quiet easy for someone coming from the CBSE board.
Faculty
Faculty of the college is at par though one cannot compare them with the faculty in other countries where research is a main criterion some faculty members are hard core researchers and one gains tremendously from their knowledge the interest level of the
