Remarks
Our college is affiliated to the Council of Architecture. It is one of the best colleges in the west and probably in India. That’s the reason this college top the preference of many students during the admission process. I had many memorable moments with the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course structure was a mixture of theoretical classes and studio hours. Studio hours are the practical classes for the architectural students. Though syllabus was lengthy which sometimes create a state of panic during exam time, but more or less, it was doable.
College Events
One of the events being organised at the college is the NASA, where colleges across country display their work and compete with one another. Events like this gave us a lot of opportunities to interact and learn from other future architects of the country.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The IES charges a whopping sum of 1.5 lacs for the first year. Despite being the premium college in the region, their fee structure is equal to other institutes. But overall for a five year course, a middle class family might just be left debt engraved when they have to look for the job themselves.
Campus Life
IES had the cleanest campus in Mumbai. For some it won’t matter much, it was an important factor for students like me. The location of the college is also good, since the lane behind the college is pretty happening. You will get many eateries options there.
Alumni/Alumna
The college has a vast network of alumni. They would call them for delivering seminars and workshops or to be the judge in an inter-college competition. This usually gave students the opportunity to interact with them and p
Admission
Admission is through Common Admission Process (CAP). The Architecture Council of India is the authorized body of granting admission in the architectural colleges across India. The admission is on the basis of NATA scores which is lengthy process. IES was one of my first preference.
Faculty
The teaching staff and the administration are both equally qualified. Some are strict, some are pretty flexible. But all of them are willing to help you with your academics. The teachers will push you to be competitive, which might seem irrelevant in that moment, but it will certainly prepare you for the future.
