IIEST, my love

My college is awesome just awesome. Once you are a BEing, you are BEing always. You just can't forget the colonial structures inside the campus contrasting with the modern architecture. The breeze from the Ganga always make your day after having a busy day.

Course curriculum is bit old and needs updation though many course structure are updated during my times and some new elective courses were introduced during our time. There are two exams per subject per semester, namely midsem and end sem. End sem is of 70 marks written exam and remaining 30 marks per subject computed as a normalised marks from midsem score, assignment, attendance and other criterias if any. Generally for lab subjects there is only one exam per semester but midsem assessment may be taken for lab subjects depending on the concerned professor.

Placement scenario are improving every year. Companies like microsoft, samsung, directi, pwc, cgi, Deutsche bank, Goldman Sachs, uber, Capgemini, DDT, mentor graphics are top non core recruiter. In core also placement are comparatively better. Companies like Tata Steel, Tata Power, Unilever limited, shapoorji paloonji and many others do visit campus. Events are scattered throughout the year and organized by several clubs in the institution and department. The main cultural fest is REBECA and is the largest college fest in kolkata, it runs through 4 days with nonstop performance by bands and artists from Mumbai and Kolkata. Then comes techfest INSTRUO which is also a prominent one inthe city. Besides these there are several events organised by several department like Anuranan by les thespian the drama club, Oikotaan by euphony the music club, event by photography club, and others. Also every hostel except first years hostel, organise sports event every year during winter. And many other events are organised during my college days which I could not remember at this moment.

Fee Structure is as per with the NITs as per MHRD rules and regulations. For sc st candidates the tution fees is waived. Apart from tution fees if you stay in hostel then you need to pay the fees for hostel and mess. Hostel fees is just 1900rs per semester. And the mess fees depends on the food you consume in that month it can vary between 3k to 4.5k. The mess menu is decided by the students of the respective hostel

The tution fees are waived for SC ST students. Regarding scholarship, the organisation run by almunus GAABESU, they provide scholarship and money amount for buying books every year to some selected students on various criteria. The criterias can be checked at the Facebook page of GAABESU

Extracurricular activities like sports, gym and swimming pool are available in the campus. Campus has a newly decorated basketball ground, two large lush green ground namely lords and oval. Every year annual sports day is celebrated in the campus by sports body.

There is huge network of almunus worldwide named as GAABESU. The organisation is very active and has strong connection with the college authority and they have a dedicated office inside campus. Any type of help regarding monetary or others someone can approach them.

Admission in my college is through Jee mains exam hence one need to apply for the counselling of jee main for seat in this college, in our times the counselling process was named as JoSaa, possibly the name is still tha same

Faculties are good and experienced, very helpful also. Always they will be available if you need any clarification regarding topics.
