Review on Netaji Subhash Engineering College Engineering Department (CSBS)

I have applied for all the engineering colleges in and around Kolkata but Netaji Subhash Engineering College was one of the top colleges on my list. So when I got to this college in the second round of counselling I locked in. I am a TFW(Tuition Fee Waiver) student in my college which means I don't have to pay the fees. The eligibility criteria of TFW student is that the overall annual family income should be less than 2.5 lakhs and the student must be domiciled in West Bengal. Documents like income certificate and domicile certificate should be produced during the time of admission of course the student has to get a TFW seat in the counselling process first. The minimum age for appearing in WBJEE is 17 years and the minimum marks for General students is 45% and reserved students are 30% in science and 10+2 equivalent. After the wbjee process was over I locked my seat in this college and physically went to the college showed all my documents, paid the amount and took admission in the college.

I chose this course because I wanted to do a specialization along with computer science and this course is associated with TCS. The faculty: student ratio is 4:1 as we are very few students in the department when compared to the other department. Most of the faculty in our college has a Doctorate in their respected subjects with a minimum of a Master in engineering. The semester exams take place after 6months and there are two Unit tests in a semester with two months interval between each Unit tests.

Companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Byjus offer internships in this college. Projects on Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Etc are performed in these internships and the outcomes were very successful.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Every year the fees Hikes around 1000 rupees a semester and the current Fees structure is 393000 for four years the only tuition excluding the food and lodging. There are many types of engineering scholarships are available by the government every year. I am TFW(Tuition Fee waiver) student in this college which means I don't have to pay any tuition fees for studying in this college. The placements drive in this college is one the best drives in Kolkata. Big companies like TCS, Thoughtworks, Byjus, Amazon, etc come to this college every year for placements

Every year we have "Avenir" the cultural fest and "Phoenix" the tech fest. These fests are held in April in the mid of April. There are an abundant amount of books, journal, and research papers available in the library and an online E-library is also available for students. All the labs are fully air conditioned and fully equipped and smart classes are also there in the college. Inter college sports are host every year along with competition with other colleges as well. There is a Rotaract club in our college that is managed by the students of the college. Overall the campus life in this college is very good
