College Review

I was always having problem reagrding the exam papers that used to come.Faculties used to give almost same paper every year and students used to mug up the old papers and were able to pass the exam.But in this way we were not able to get the real or practical taste of engineering.

During our tenure,course was quite unarranged,like subject which were of utmost importance were kept in last semesters (which could also help us in our campus placements).But in 2019 only our syllabus is changed totally,including subjects like economics in first year.We had 8 semesters.Each semester comprising of one mid-sem exam of 30 marks and one end-sem exam of 100 marks.And ofcourse the practical exams at the end of semester.

As it is obvious ,CSE placements are always best in any college.Same was in our case.In electrical,during our batch 85 out of 99 people got placed in reputed companies.I too got placed in L&T.Our college also provides research internship under various subjects.Stipend was around 10,000.

Starting with the freshers fest named as Kashish(now Abhinandan),we got a boost to start with new journey.Every year one annual fest named Sparsh is organised which includes celebrity night, singing night,dancing night and some day events.There are many student chapters(both tech and non-tech) which used to organise many interesting events.Like CHRD was a human resource club which organised drama,dancing ,singing and many more.Dhristi was a huge platform for tech enthusiast.And each department used to have its own society like ours was EES.

Fee structure is quite feasible during our tenure.But now it's too expensive.We used to pay 35,000 for each sem.And now it is increased to 1,25000 for each year.Although as it is government college,the fee is quite high.

Each year Gujarat government used to give scholarship named as MYSY.But it was for people those having their fathers income less than 6 LPA.I am not quite aware of the loan facility provided by our college.

Sports also played key role of importance to our college.A huge cricket ground,football ground, elite badminton court, basketball court, Lawn Tennis court, TT rooms everything was available 24 hours.And a huge gym used to be pride of our college.Department labs were having a large numbers of instruments but truly saying some of them were not in good condition as they were quite old and not replaced.Other than that lab facilities were enough.

Each year we used to have different hostels.Total there were 13 hostels(1 for girls and 12 for boys). First we used to have sharing rooms and remaining years we got single rooms.Infrastructure wise some of them were extremely poor while some were elite.Our final year hostel was one of the best of all.We were provided quite good food unlike other NIT's.Laundry facility,drinking water(not so healthy), and room service were provided.

Seniors used to help us a lot during our placements season.And during our final year they used to provide information regarding what to do after graduation,which career to pursue and quite lot.During our 4 years they were always ready to help us.

I appeared for JEE- Main in 2015 and got around 21000 AIR.After that I got AIR around 10000 in JEE Advance but was not able to get into IIT's as I am in open category. At that time a committee named as Josaa was created for admission process.Through online medium we had to fill out college preferences.In first round of counselling I got BIT,Mesra(Chemical) but in final round I got SVNIT,SURAT (Chemical).Luckily in spot round I was able to get Electrical in SVNIT,Surat.

Faculty were mostly quite informative.Unlike other colleges ,our faculties used to teach each and every subject with indepth concepts.Mostly all of them had done their Ph.D from IIT's.They were always available to help at anytime.During our final year project they used to help us quite a lot so that we can take that project to some large extent.
