Remarks
BIT Mesra is a decent college if you want to achieve something big later on in your life but as far as college life is concerned, people get disappointed by the hostel facility and infrastructure and campus facilities in the college. However decent placements makes it a very good college as a whole.
Course Curriculum Overview
Yeah honestly, the CSE course curriculum is too slow for any student here. So in order to be on par for the 3rd year internships, we need to know how to learn on our own. Also SGPA makes it difficult to secure high scores in semester examinations, so hard work is required to get good scores in the examinations.
Placement Experience
The only and most important plus point of the college is its placements. CSE here gets an average package of 10 LPA while the highest package goes aa high as 34 LPA. Not only CSE, even other courses have very decent placements, with over 70% of the students getting placed almost each year. However, the college doesnt provide internships.
College Events
Many fests are celebrated in the college of every genre - the three bigggest fests being Pantheon, Vajra and Bitotsav. Pantheon is the annual tech fest of the college that happens to be organised in the last week of September. Vajra is the annual sports fest of the college that takes place in the first week of November.
Fee Structure And Facilities
BIT is a GFTI (Government Funded Technical Institution). As it is owned by Birla, it is a private institution (ranked 2nd in private colleges) and fee structure is expensive. Tuition fee every semester goes around 1 lakh which makes it 2 LPA just for tuitions. Hostel fee is around 5 thousand per month. So yeah, annual expenditure for tuitions and hostel is around 2.5 LPA to 3 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The owner of the college, Mr. JK Birla though offers a scholarship of 50k for the merit students each semester, the criteria for it is too critical to get any kind of benefits from it. For instance, thhe annual income of the family must be less than 3 lakhs. So technically, no scholarship is provided.
Campus Life
Yeah, we have a big sports complex with a pretty well equipped gym. So sports can be given 4 out of 5 rating. However computer labs are in pretty bad condition and manh computers don't work at all. However as the number of labs are more, ratings can be 3 out of 5.
Hostel Facilities
The worst part of the college is its hostel infrastructure. Yeah the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year boys get the benefits of staying in a single room but that doesn't matter when there is a big problem for drinking water being impure and washrooms not being cleaned at all for weeks. However, each room is provided with LAN ports which are quite useful in Engineeeing colleges.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network of BIT Mesra is quite strong and people come in regular intervals to visit college and interactive sessions are held by the college for the students of mainly 2nd year which are quite helpful for the students.
Admission
Secured air 10234 in JEE Main 2018, went through with JEE Main Counseling, kept this college at 7th position though, below top courses in top NITs, was expecting NIT Warangal Mechanical in the last round, but missed it by a margin of 200 ranks and got this in the final round after VNIT Nagpur Mechanical in the first 6 rounds.
Faculty
To be honest, as a CSE student in this college, faculty is a big disappointment. No one here cares about the students. For instance, we have Biological Science in the 3rd semester now and the teacher has not been taking classes for two months now and we are lagging way behind the syllabus.
