Pondicherry Engineering college

Pondicherry Engineering College was once one of the top most colleges in India. Though it experienced a roller coaster ride through out years now the institution is running very successfully with great placements. Few things about college may seem bizarre like having convocation three whole years after graduation and all. Just like all the government institutions, things run slowly but they are done right.

The course curriculum is great it's similar to that of Anna university's but after becoming an autonomous body they keep changing In order to make it better. The exam pattern is as usual semester pattern. The last semester is left out for internship

The placements in the college are getting better every year. Companies like Qualcomm, HP, Accenture, TCS ZoHo etc are hiring exclusively from PEC. The college has gives us an option to complete all the eight semester examinations priorly and go for an internship. Many were offered internships in HP Qualcomm and zoho. The payscale for Qualcomm was 30 k per month where as in zoho and hp it was 15k.

College has many department fests celebrated. Apart from those we have PecoFes which is an inter college fest to which many prominent celebrities are invited. If you are an hosteller you have an whole lot of celebrations going on. Fests like vinayaka chavithi, Ugadhi, Ponnonam, Chithirai thiruval, and most importantly hostel day which lasts for three days.

The fees for pondicherry residents was around 14 k per year and for other states it is 28 k and it differs a bit if you join through self supporting quota. The fees is very affordable , since it is a government aided college.

During the college I have never applied for any scholarships but many of my peers have and they really found it easy doing so. The education loan was granted easily since the college was a government institution. Even I found many of my friends getting visa easily for their higher studies.

The labs are very well furnished and maintained. They are a lot of clubs like photography, literary, we even had a entrepreneur club. My favorite was always literary, was a mentor in that club. Any every year annual sports fest happens which is intra college though. But people are trained through out the year for inter college competitions.

Yes, I was an hosteller. The hostel has a decent enough facilities which are well maintained. The fees varies every year but mostly settles around 60k per year. The hostel has three shared, two shared and single shared rooms. Which we can opt for according to our choice.

Alumini of PEC college are extremely successful. Every year student councel organizes alumini interaction atleast twice in a semester. Alumini who are working for companies like Intel, Qualcomm and few other entrepreneurs fund this student councel and encourage academic excellence with awards worth thousands of rupeees

I have applied to CENTAC with my JEE score and board score and received a call letter for counseling. These days PEC is also enlisted in JOSAA. For pondicherry residents it is totally based on board scores.

The faculty in the college are extremely qualified. Many members of the faculty are Ph. D holders. I found them very approchable and people with a lot of exposure.No department had ant shortage of faculty.
