IIT JEE I had some option available at BHU and few IITs, but having interest in core branches of engineering i.e. Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, I chose ISM dhanbad as my graduate school, to pursue my interest in mechanical engineering.

ISM dhanbad has a standard 8 semester curriculum, which is neatly laid down with electives to suit individuals so that they can gain some specialized knowledge at the undergraduate level itself. Curriculum encapsule a number of laboratory work hours as well as thesis study in the last two semesters to help students gain hands on experience in research.

This an area in which ISM dhanbad lacks behind. Internships are generally offered to Ph.d and Masters students in form of research assistants to various faculty members. These students are paid stipend in accordance to the norms of Indian government. For Undergraduate students internships are available with different industries such as Shell(50000) Tata Steel(30000) SANDVIK(20000).

Placement scenario at ISM dhanbad is highly favorable for student in earth science branches of study such as Mining, Petroleum, Mineral, Geophysics and geology. For other branches it placement is generally in adjunct to earth science companies, which nonetheless offer lucrative packages to all streams of engineering. The placement figures hare high and about 95% of students receive job offers from companies visiting campus.

ISM dhanbad has its separate technical and cultural fests, which attract students from all over India. The cultural fest is a large scale event having had the like of Jal, Mika Singh, Hard kaur, Simon Webb on its stage.In addition there are departmental technical events like Mechalethon(Mechanical Engineering) Sparx(IEEE chapter).

Need based scholarship is being awarded to all students with low family income backgrounds given they maintain a minimum required GPA. The college does not offer study loans.

The campus life is very easy going and restriction free. Male students are allowed out of hostels 24X7. Female hostels allow students out till 11PM. Timely sports events are being organized in the fields of football, cricket, volleyball, athletics and tennis. The istitute has its own swimming pool and squash area. The school host a number of events such as janmashtmi, Ganesh pooja, diwali, etc which see after event parties usually lasting the whole night.
