An institute of national importance

There are ample of opportunities in the college to develop as an individual and become successful when you get out. But sometimes the adminstration is quite slow and less supporting. To get some work done where the admin intervention is required they are quite unwilling as if they think of their own benefits only. Thought the main heart of the college are it's students and this college has many quality students who are excelling themselves in one or the other field and find a way to work despite some of the flaws and make the student Community proud.

I feel the course curriculum is quite good and updated according to the current market requirements. Though i think their are some unnecessary courses but all in all the curriculum when included with electives is quite good but not best in class. As far as exam structure is concerned in a semester there are 2 main exams the mid semester and the end semester exam. Apart from these main exams there are regular tests and vivas being taken throughout the semester at regular intervals

The placement and job opportunities are quite excellent over here. The main reason that the college attracts students form around the country and students toil hard to enter here are the excellent placement opportunities. Many big companies related to various fields like IT, Software, Communication, Automobile, PSUs, Managerial, Consultancy, Construction related, Banking etc visit in large amount and give good placements to deserving students. Yes, there are research internships provided in summer vacation at the college where the student can work on some research topic under some professor. The stipend is not quite large. The main thing is the learning that a student gets good amount of exposure and learning of the topic.

The fee structure is quite feasible. There are fee remission schemes available based on the annual income of a student's parent and he/she can avail 66% or 100% fee remission as per standard set by the Central Government

There is a fee remission schemes by the Central Government which waives of 66% of the fees for students whose family has an annual income below 5lakh and 100% waiver for those annual income is less than 1lakh, Apart from this students can avail many academic related scholarship of which there are notified regularly.

The college boasts of its excellent extra curricular activities with more than 35 technical and non technical, Cultural Student chapters and clubs which keep on organising many activities and are funded well by the college.Labs are well equipped and newly constructed and function quite well. Sports culture is also quite good and their are many indoor and outdoor facilities for sports. The team of SVNIT perform very well at national competitions such as Inter-NIT.

The Hostel infrastructure is quite good. As far as I know it has some of the best hostels in the country and their is a student body which is elected in a Democratic which solves any issues by themselves. The food offered is also quite hygenic but the taste can be a problem sometimes for many students. But there ample of other places to eat like the Central canteen, Night Canteens in each Hostels etc. The Hostel and mess charges are also very affordable for the facilities and infrastructure provided.

The alumni network is quite strong as they are located throughout the world in many prominent positions. There is an annual alumni meet arranged when the alumni are called for a meeting and dinner in the college. The alumni association and their strong network is also one of the main reasons for many good companies coming for placements in SVNIT. The seniors over here are also quite helpful. In all the student chapters and clubs it is the seniors who organise the events and guide their juniors, be it in academics or in co-curricular activities. Seniors and juniors share a very friendly and nice relationship over here.

There is an entrance exam for getting into the most prestigious colleges of the country called the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main). Students prepare for the same and undergo rigorous coaching for 2 years in their 11th and 12th standard as the exam syllabus comprises of topics from these two standards. Based on the marks of the JEE Main exam a rank is given to every student of the country. Then based on the rank we have to decide a priority order of college and courses we want to Persue and based on the top number of students according to the seats of the course a student is given admission.

The main faculties such as professors and assistant professors are very well qualified with PhDs from reputed institutions of the country and the teaching style and patterns of these faculties are quite good. Though their are some faculties who are not as good in delivering knowledge and students attend their class just for attendance purpose. There are few faculties who can be rude sometimes but they are dealt with well by administration if reported. And their are a few Teaching Assistants who have Masters degree. They mainly assist the faculties in labs and also take some classes under the guidance of main faculties of concerned course. Here also some of the teaching assistants can be found not up to the mark but most do quite well in teaching.
