Should I study IT from IIEST Shibpur or EC from SVNIT?

IT from IIEST Shibpur is a better choice than EC from SVNIT Surat. Both my classmates and I agree to the fact that IIEST Shibpur is a much better institute than SVNIT. The reasons for the same are given below – It is a common observation that many of the EC engineering graduates eventually work as software engineers, which is not their core domain. IT is very close to CSE in terms of coding and related works. You will definitely learn more in IT rather than EC even if you are interested in software. If you want you can learn software development and coding on your own, then go for the EC branch of SVNIT. But that will require a lot of effort, time management, and discipline. IT at IIEST, Shibpur will also give a mental satisfaction that you are working in the same field as intended while in EC at SVNIT you will probably have to join a job that is not related to your core EC subjects. Even if you are passionate about EC, the faculty in this department at SVNIT are not very good. They are too young for the job. Of course, there will be seniors and various clubs to help you out but faculty are at the core of any teaching system. How’s ECE at SVNIT Surat?

I have a close friend who studied from here, according to her experience, the preference order for branches at NIT Surathkal among students is as follows. CS>Mech>Electrical~ECE ECE - Highlights: Faculty- The lecturers are helpful and knowledgeable. But the faculty for other branches is better than ECE. Students aiming for CGPA above 9 should work hard. Subjects- The subjects covered in the course are quite interesting. You will have a chance to core electronics, communication, programming, and the electrical side. Placements- There is no big core company for ECE grad. in Surat, still, the on-campus placements are fine. John Deere, Master Card, and Airtel, and some software companies like JPMC, Carwale, etc are some of the recruiters for this course. The main reason for ECE being behind Mechanical is top-quality professors, core companies, being one of the oldest branches & huge class strength. ECE is not behind mechanical but mechanical is way ahead of ECE in SVNIT. Statistics- Particular SVNIT Surat (for ECE) Total fees 4.84 lakhs Average salary 7 LPA Highest salary 17.5 LPA There are definitely a few shortcomings for the ECE branch, but it is still ECE from NIT Surat.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Mainly depend upon your category if you belong to sc,st then full fees will be waived out and for other depend on family income if <5 and >=1 then 2/3 fee waiver and <1 then full fee waiver and rest all pay full fees.

Every year i pay 62000. There will be a addition fee of 75000 for lab and practical, 6000 college fund .I get a 62000 fee remission as may family income is below 1 lakh. My friend get fee remission of 31000 as his family income above 1 lakh.I don't recive any scholarship

Course Curriculum Overview:

My branch is Electronics and Communication Engineering. It has 6 subjects per semester. Curriculum upto 2nd year is aligned with the GATE exam syllabus and after that it is towards practical and real world applications. We have Machine Learning and IoT courses with projects. In every semester some portion of the syllabus is always left due to lack of time. Frequency of exam is 1 per 2 weeks and difficulty level is moderate

As an SC student,there is no tution fees included ,which is around 67500 per semester to general category. But there are other fees like exam fees,stationary etc. That totals 7500 per semester. Hostel fees include 39000 per year mess fees advance , other fees like room rent and water and mintanance etc.is around 11000 per year

Placement of Ec are too high and nice : go for it

I pay total 6,11,000 fees for four year. We have tution fees per semester is 62,500. If your family income is less than 1 lack than you will get full remission of tution fees. If your family income is between 1 lack to 5 lack than you will get 2/3 remission of tution fees. Fees is same for all .

Work load is more for students in terms of file submission, quizzes, midsem and endsem.

Annual Tuition Fees is Rs. 125000 and Annual Hostel and Mess Fees is 51200. For SC/ST and PwD candidates it is Rs. 6000. There is Fee Remission of Full or 2/3rd of the Tuition Fees only for students having Annual Family Income less than 5 Lakhs(2/3rd) and less than 1 Lakh(Full). There is MYSY Scholarship of amount 50000 per year for all students having family income less than 8 Lakhs.

SVNIT Surat

For first year admission, tution fees was 90000/- and hostel+mess fees was 38380/- for general candidates. No other fees has to be paid. I don't know much about scholarship as I didn't avail any. The course is affordable I feel.

SVNIT an Inspiration

As iam from St community I pay no fee I just pay other fee and maintenance fee included in tuition fee that is about 7000. I get national scholarship from central government during first year I got 100600 amount and during 2nd year 41000 , As I was trying for internships I had no stipends awarded

SVNIT Review

If we talk about the fee structure of SVNIT the tuition fee of the institute is 62500 per semester and with include of other charges the fee becomes 146000 per year, now the hostel fee including the mess and other expenses is 60000 per year approx., There are many scholarships there for students according to their JEE Mains rank, financial status, category, etc. all these scholarships are online and available on the NSP portal.

Fees are pretty affordable 63k was tuition fees 30k for hostel in which 16k is for mess food and A year would lost around 1 lakh. And if family income is below 8 LPA then the tuition fees get's 2/3 waiver moving to 20k. If income is less than 1 Lakh then 0 tuition fees are to be paid.
