Remarks
The college's course structure hasn't been restructured to accommodate the process of going for internships during the semesters, when a student is getting placed in a company whose policy states an internship and conversion-post-completion into job.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is at par with other universities or governing bodies. It needs minor changes to be updated with respect to company policies, but is very accurate and effective in its current form. There are 5 midsems and endsem exams for all the 5 theory subjects in a semester, along with practical exams, one each for the 4 labs in a semester. The grading system is 10 point.
Placement Experience
This year there has been a good number of companies that have recruited students from our college. Some of these include Deloitte, Infosys, Cognizant, L&T ECC, Tata Steel BSL among others. The college provides internship opportunities in companies which have relation to the respective branch's course curriculum. Being from CSE, we get opportunities to intern at CDAC, DRDO, etc. I have been to CDAC Pune for internship and it was a great learning experience in the field of High Performance Computing.
College Events
Our college hosts two fests, Samavesh - the technical fest, and Vassaunt - the cultural fest. Our college has a rich club culture which gives way for a multitude of events throughout the year like TEDxVSSUT, MakerFest Odisha, among others. Our college hosts an annual athletic meet and an inter-college sports meet every alternate year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. The semester fees is 25k and the hostel fee is 14k, which covers up for both living and the mess fees in the hostel. Initially, while taking admission, there is provision of University registration fees (one time).
Fees and Financial Aid
Although there are no scholarships awarded by the college, it appears on the eligible list of colleges for most government colleges. Many of the bright students belonging to economically withheld families receive Medhabruti scholarship by Govt. of Odisha.
Campus Life
Labs are well equipped with all the new and necessary equipments being procured as sson as they are needed. The college has teams for cricket, football, volleyball and conducts an intra-college athletic meet each year, along with an inter-college meet each alternate year.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel infrastructure is good for a state government funded college, if not state-of-the-art. It has 24/7 LAN connectivity, along with Sports room and TV room for recreation. The food is at par with most other government college hostels.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network of our college is very strong and active and contains people in very crucial positions in large companies. This, in turn, helps the college in matters pertaining to placements and funding.
Admission
My college takes admission into B.Tech streams through JEE Main ranks. The college follows the admission procedure as specified in the common portal for admission, including an additional spot admission round. There is also another way of getting into B.Tech, the Lateral Entry scheme applicable for people who have pursued Diploma.
Faculty
There are senior teachers with very great understanding of the subject. There are also a good number of teachers who are relatively new but equally competent in theory. The marking scheme in exams is also fairly strict.
