My experience at IIT BHU

The Infrastructure is old because it's a 100 year old college. The sports facilities are nice. The academics are not quite hectic giving enough time to explore any other feild. The mess food is very good in comparison to any other college.

In college my branch is pretty much a mix of mathematics courses along with computer science courses with a bit inclination towards the mathematics part. The course curriculum itself is nice but the maths part is sometimes difficult to understand as it's quite abstract unlike maths at school level. It is hard but rewarding at the same time. Usually every course has a convener who distributes 100 marks into midsem endsem and assignment quiz etc the exams itself are not that hard as mostly they ask what's already taught with a little twist sometimes.

There are 3 events majorly. Spardha - sports event it sees massive participation and eminent celebrities across India. Kashiyatra - cultural festival it has some of the best pro nights with amazing people coming in from all cultural backgrounds music standups dance and whatnot. Technex - technical festival if technology is what excites you then this is the place from various companies visiting to amazing pro nights to see what people can do with small bits of tech it's just incredible.

It's quite expensive almost 2.25 lakhs per year but several scholarships are available and after all the facilities you get it seems feasible. The academic fees accounts for almost 1 lakh and the mess charge is around 12 k for 1 semester.

Labs - the undergraduate labs are not what we say state of the art but it's more than what's necessary to get things done along with quite nice labs for master's and PhD. Sports - there are 3 humongous grounds enough to satisfy anyone's hunger for any kind of sports ranging from chess to basketball to cricket with eminent facilities everywhere.

IIT bhu boasts of its 100 year old alumni network which has help it grow further the alumni network is extensive with people everywhere ranging from CEO to the founders of several companies. Seniors are always helpful you just need to approach them they are more than willing to help you.

There is only one mode of entrance to the btech and IDD programmes that is jee advanced. Essentially to appear in jee advanced one has to be in top 220000 candidates in the jee mains and then on basis of the rank in jee advanced you can choose your stream and college.

Like every college we have some great facultiy who are ready to go that extra mile for that subject trying to involve us in the class do great projects and motivate us to see what science beholds but on the contrary there are some who are just for the sake of it.They are not up-to-date with the current trends and technologies which are in the industry usually one has to mug up all of their notes to pass the course.
