Oldest College of Odisha

The college is A nice college for an individual who want to pursue his dreams, or follow his passion as college provides an allround facility for each and every fields. However an ooen campus infrastructure may be a downside of the college, and being one of the oldest college in INDIA, it needs to improve its infrastructure in some cases. But the college is really very nice.

It follows a semester based examination structure. In the 4 years B.tech program, one have to attempt 8 semesters(2 in each year). Each semester have 28 credits(for first three years) and 24 credits for final year. One have to pass all the semester to get graduated. It uses a GPA system for grading.

Placement record is very nice, comparable to other universities in odisha of same tier. A lot of MNCs visit the campus to hire students from different branches with decent packages. Some of the PSUs also visit. The placement record may vary from branch to branch. The college also provides internship program only for selected branches durring summer.

The college is full of events and co curricular activities. The tech fest named as SAMAVESH, the cultural fest known as the VASSAUNT, both of which are conducted in Winter and spring, are the best among all. Convocation is also one of the main events. Apart from these TEDx VSSUT, MUN, VISCON, ILUMINA(Sports Fest) and Global Alumni Meet(GAM), and various intercollege sports competitions are also celebrated.

It depends. As two types of fee structures are are offered, on is General and another is SSC(Self Sustaining College). The general fee structure(only for semester) is usually 40-50k per year, while the SSC fee is around 80k per year excluding hostel fees. Hostel fees are 32k per year. A TFW(tuition Fee Weaver) scheme is also available for meritorious students who belong to lower economic background.

Generally no scholarship offer is available. However a tuition Fee Weaver scheme is available for meritorious students who have secured very good rank in entrance and belong to lower economic class. This fee helps in reducing the tuition Fees for a semester for all the semesters.

The College have a lot of clubs that supports and encourages a lot of co curricular activities in the college. The Robotics Society being the best among all as it is recognized in international level for development and successfully implementation of a satellite model(VSLV). Apart from it, SOULS(The music club), EMOTICA(the drama club), VIBRANZ(dance club), ENIGMA(The coding club), VSSUT LITERACY SOCIETY, E-CELL(Entrepreneurship Club) sports Club, Yoga Club and PIXEL(The Art and Photography Club) are there having a lot of yoing talents.

Hostels are nice as some of are very old. Food is very nice. Water and Electricity is nearly always available. Infrastructure is nice. New hostels has been built in past 5 years to accommodate more students.Some of them are still under construction. Overal good hostel infrastructure is available. Availability of free wifi is a plus point in each hostel.

The alumni network is one if the best things about the college. Like one can surely find a VSSUTian at any sector all over in India. The alumni association also helps and sponsors for various development activities in the college. Seniors are also very much helpful. They guide the fellow juniors in alm aspects.

You have to qualify the JEE(MAINS) entrance to get admission in the college. Then you have to go through a state counselling process before admission. Post completion of which only you will get admission. Also one need to secure required cutoff marks for different branches. The cut off mark varies from branch to branch. For the students who have completed 12th after 10th, they get admission from first year as regular student. And those who have done diploma after 10th, enrol as lateral entry from 2nd year(for 4 year B.tech program).

Faculties are very nice and friendly. Most of them are associate Professors, and some Professors. A lot of assistant Professors are young and dynamic. Most of the faculties have completed Phds. Some are also continuing in the college itself. Faculties are very talented and wise. Non teaching staffs are also very friendly and nice.
