My experience with the university was a bag of mixed feelings. On the academic level, it was all good. Extracurricular activities will leave you with some memorable moments. But apart from that, it’s a tough road ahead. The delayed exams, the delayed results, and the absence of placement cell were some of the other examples of mismanagement in the Kannur University.
Course Curriculum Overview
Kannur University is an affiliated University, with seven campuses spread across the state along with several community colleges. Course Curriculum for the M. Com. was quite thorough. But the Kannur University has a history of Delaying the Annual exams. Not only that, you can’t expect the exam results to be announced on time. The lazy university officials would take almost a year to publish the results.
Placement Experience
There were no placement initiatives, apart from the IT department. I had to look for jobs on my own. That’s when I realized that a degree from Kannur University holds very little weightage outside Kerala.
College Events
Academic achievement, as well as extra-curricular activities, are better than Calicut University. Kannur University would organize inter-university competitions in which numerous colleges affiliated to the university would participate. The main attractions were some of the cultural events like Dhwani.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was quite nominal. One year fee, of my BBA course, was somewhere around 18,000 INR. Which was quite decent when you compare it with other Universities in the state.So it is good for all the students.
Fees and Financial Aid
University also offers a scholarship to students who are facing any financial crisis. Also, students can avail fellowships offered by the Kerala Government, called eGrant.So the students from poor family can also study.
Campus Life
University has provided labs ,arts,sports etc.the one who proved their talents in sports and extracurricular activities at the State, National and International levels. The University provides fellowships and scholarships for the co-curricular and research activities of the students with the funding support of the State Government, UGC and other agencies.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors in the college very helpfull to all juniors. they all give there notes and books. to juniors and also help in conduct management meet.They will also provide books and notes they used ,it is also good help to juniors
Admission
Throgh online appilcatim process. Application must be submitted online through the website www.sde.kannuruniversity.ac.in (link - Register as a Student) after remitting the admission fee.The printout of the online application (photo duly attested), Chalan (original), Transfer Certificate (original) and one passport size photograph (same Photo which is uploaded in the application) along with the following documents shall be reached the office of the Director, School of Distance Education, Kannur University, Thavakkara, Civil Station PO-670002
