Life at SCEM

Yea as engineering college it's very best since it provide us many technical events, talks, interaction etc .but when it comes to fest I think there is need of fest atleast one a year or once in two year.

I had chosen mechanical because many suggested me. And now when I started to study this I came to know that our colleges comes under vtu. And has said by seniors our syllabus was out of date already.But we had no choice we had to study those even though few subjects were good . regarding exams we have 3 internals and 1 term exam for each semester.internal exam is for 30 marks each and average of 3 exams are considered for internal marks and we have 10 marks for assignments so a total of 40 as internal marks we get from college and at the end of the sem we write external exam for hundred marks which will be reduced to 60 . minimum marks criteria is 21 in externals and 35 as whole considering both internal and external.

About placements we have good track record in Mangalore but since I belong to mecahnical the mechanical placements are low because only fee core company visits regarding internship this year in our college an internship cell is been started so don't know more about it now.until now only few internships were provided only for the good students I had done my internship in one of the industry but it was not a stipened one.

When we come to technical events we have many events taking place there will be a national level event named aerophillia taking place every year.other than that we will be having many events like catapult, bridge building.kindle this is an event held for first years where they get chance to expose their talents in events like robowar, bot race etc.when it comes to cultural we have no fest organised in our college we will be just having a single event named sinchana where various branches participate to win overall championship.

There are many other fees paid in our college other than tuition fees and college fee if we compared to other it's kind of expensive.but sometime they provide us few good facilities for the extra fees we pay for industry connect programme , placement training etc.

We have a scholarship section in our college if students need any help they can contact over there . They send notices class wise if there is any scholarship opened in websites.college doesn't provide any scholarship they just help in availing the government and private scholarship present .I always apply for merit cum means which comes under central government scheme and so as the loan they just guide us I availed for an government loan named arivu.

When it comes to sports we can say that we have been provided with the best sports teachers who support us and motivates us in participating.we will be having interclass matches like chess, carrom, throwball , cricket etc.most of our labs in college are very well maintained so no complaints overall it's very good.

Yea it's very helpful our department always tries to arrange an aluminium talk each semester it gives us a good knowledge and exposure about how are they proceeding after their graduation and how is the present world outside college.

When I came to know that this college is good for engineering in Mangalore. I applied for admission over there as second choice and due to my exam rank I got the seat over there. The admission process was a quite a long when compared to other college I had to visit 9 to 10 different sections starting from giving my details later I had to submit my documents ,I had to pay half amount, I had to visit bus,and scholarship section for knowing the details.later I was sent to principle chamber to meet him, he spoke well and welcomed us and atlast by collecting my I'd card and uniform I got my admission done.

When I was in first year I was lucky to get into a best class I can say as we had good lecturer allotted.as I went to my branch the quality of teaching reduced but it was fine later in between few new faculty were added those were completelely boring but overall if I say not bad because when it comes for any project etc all are very supportive.
