Remarks
The College is doing very well and serving the backward district of Bidar in the State of Karnataka. At that point of time many Sikh students from Punjab, Bombay and Delhi used to go there to have Engineering degrees.
Course Curriculum Overview
This was contemporary at that point of time. The College was affiliated to Gulbarga University Gurbarga at that point of time. So same curriculum was followed which was being taught at Gulbarga University affiliated Colleges.
Internships Opportunities
No. Internship was not offered yet educational tour of various industries linked to my degree were held. We were shown all the work environment of all the relevant industry at Bangalore and Mysore. I still remember as I am having pics of that time.
Placement Experience
Placement was good. Since I belonged to Punjab State I applied in the state and landed up with two job offers. I joined as Lecturer in Govt. Polytechnic Bathinda in 1987 and continued in the same Department till now and reached at the level of Additional Director.
College Events
College annual day. Since it was a Sikh minority College they used to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev ji's Birthday in a big way. Other sports events were also held. College hockey team was best in the area so they used to host the State level competition.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure of the College at that point of time was quite affordable. I paid INR 26000/- as admission fee and then about 7000 INR annual fee for the next 3 years. Hostel facility was available. I stayed in the hostel only for first year and paid the nominal fee and mess charges.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not avail any scholarship or loan facility offered by the College. Some of the banks do offer educational loan facilities. College is currently offering free ship/scholarship annually to 10 economically weaker Sikh students on merit. No fee is being charged from such students.
Campus Life
The College is an NBA accredited Institution. All the labs and facilities were available including workshops as per the norms of All India Council for Technical Education. Hydraulic lab of the College was best in the State.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility was good. North Indian food was available. We used to have dining hall. Morning breakfast , lunch and dinner, Hostel and mess charges were extra than the College fee. I enjoyed my stay.
Alumni/Alumna
GND Engineering College Bidar has strong alumni network. Currently many groups are active on social media like Facebook and Whats app. College used to have many alumni platforms and annual events occur across the country and globe.
Exam Structure
It was annual exams and term work. We had 2 terms in a year and final University examination was annual. It was based on the examination system of Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. They used to evaluate the student performance.
Admission
I had good marks in 12th Non Medical stream. So got the admission on merit only. Many Sikh students were opting for this College and I also went to seek admission there. The admission was going on and I got seat in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Faculty
The faculty was well qualified and helpful. Most of them were M.Tech and PhDs although at that point of time it was hard to find well qualified faculty. Applied Sciences were also taught by Msc. and PhD level teachers.
