A good college to spent your 4 years

Overall , BIT mesra is a very good college to spent your 4 years of your life. It has every thing a student might ask in an engineering colleges. The placements statistics is also quite good and there are various extracurricular activities. However the level of faculties need to improve to increase the teaching qualities.

The course curriculum followed here is as par with top engineering colleges in India. The course followed is the same as followed in IITs hence the student learn the same subjects. The lab follows a defined syllabus which ensures the overall growth of the student, In BIT, mesra the exam structure followed is divided in 2 sections - Mid sem evaluation - 40 marks and End sem evaluation - 60 marks The mid sem evaluation carries 25 marks of mid sem exam and another 15 marks on assignments/quizzes etc. The end sem exam carries 60 marks and occurs at the end of the semester.

The placements and internship opportunities in BIT Mesra is very good. The placements statistics has seen good growth over the years in the amount of student placed and the package offered. The highest package offered in 2019 currently is 50lpa and the average package offered is around 8lpa. Hence a student coming here will get ample opportunities for getting a job in reputed companies. Coming to the internship, yes the college do provide internship if the candidate is eligible and follows certain criteria. The student will work under some faculties and undergo research work.

BIT mesra conducts various events and fests around the year. The main fests happening in a year are as follows: - 1- Pantheon - The annual technical fest of BIT mesra. It mainly focuses on technical events like coding , designing etc 2- Vajra - The annual sports fest of BIT mesra. Its an inter-college fest and various college take part in this. It occurs in the month of November and covers various sports like football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, etc. 3- BITOTSAV - The annual cultural fest of BIT mesra. Its a huge fest with celebrities gracing the nights in the fest. One must visit the fest already once to see the different events going on in this fest.

The fee structure is a little bit on the expensive side with more fees than other colleges. Hence the student may have to take a loan for the expenses. The hostel facilites are mandatory and a student have to opt for hostel facilites. However, the hostel fees are reasonable at 20000 per semester.

BIT mesra allows for a scholarship known as G.P Birla scholarship program in which a student gets a scholarship if his/her GPA is above 8 and is financially unstable or have low income. The scholarship is provided every semester to meritorious students and hence the college can even provide full 100% scholarship if the student manages to get more than 9.5 GPA.

In terms of extracellular activites , the college have various facilities. The college have a sports complex which have fields of every sport namely football, cricket, badminton , volleyball, basketball etc with gymimg facilities. Hence a student staying here have ample thing to do for recreational activites. The lab in different departments have different equipments depending on the requirements. It may have equipments as expensive as 1 crore in some labs.

The student has to opt for hostel facilities. Its mandatoey for every student to reside in the hostel. The hostel have various facilities for the student recreational activities. All hostels have a common room which has a TV for watching shows and sports. Also every hostel has a mess for fooding facilities. We can have table tennis board , carrom board , badminton court etc depending on the hostel.

The alumni network is good and still improving. The alumni helps in bringing in companies for the students. Also there is a annual meetup of alumni of BIT mesra where different alumni meet up to discuss various events. Senior students help in getting acquainted with the current criterias and syllabus. Also the club culture in the college helps to interact with senior students.

The admission in BIT mesra is purely merit-based. One has to clear JEE mains and achieve a decent enough rank to grab a seat in the college. The seats in each branch of engineering is limited, hence the demand is high. After getting a seat in the counseling process, he has to come in person in the college and accept his seat.

The faculty teaching here are well versed with the syllabus and use different teaching techniques to make the student understand about various topics. However, some faculties are not so good in terms of overall teaching quality and can affect a student's interest in that particular subject.
