UIIT Experience

UIIT is a great college and it's still a work in progress as new trades are introduced, new labs and infrastructure. I am happy to be in this college and i have made so many friends. Some of the teachers are very hard working as I've not seen teachers who put so many efforts for college students.

There are total 5 courses in UIIT now but at my time of joining there were only 2 courses. Lessons are taught in class rooms as well as pdfs are given to us for deep knowledge. Exam structure is pretty good. Sometimes the questions are up to the mark and sometimes they are twisted to check are skills and intelligence.

Placements start in the month of September when in 7th Semester. Companies visit UIIT and many students get placed. No our college do not provide any internship but we have vocational training in our holidays.

There are many events celebrated in our college. We have our Annual Technical and Cultural Fest, Teacher's Day, Children's Day, Hindi Divas and many more events. Recently we celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and decorated the college and had speeches.

Fee Structure is expensive for our college in my point of view. The fee for odd semesters is round about 58,000/- and for even semesters it is round about 48,000/-. And we have less fee structure for some catagories like SC, ST, etc.

Yes, scholarship facility is offered by our college during the admission on the basis of resulting batch and 12th percentage for girls. The meritorious girl gets the scholarship and has to pay only 13,000 fee.

The extracurricular activities are very interesting in our college. We have labs for studies but we can also spend our free time in labs to gain extra knowledge or just for fun. We also have Sports day and have our football team.

No, our college do not provide hostels. The students of our college live in pg or have rented rooms. Some of localities and some have their own facilities in shimla. There are no hostels for the UIIT shimla.

The seniors are very helpful and understanding. We do live like a family as per my perspective as i loved my seniors. They are very friendly and at the same time strict when it comes to seniority and that's good.

The entrance exam consisted of 2 paper. First was about PCM and the other one was about IT. After a month result came out and i was selected. I had to deposit the fee in a limited period of time otherwise some other student will get that seat. So i took the admission and joined UIIT after 10 days.

Faculty of our college is very cooperative and hard working. We have teaching as well as non teaching faculty and both are very understanding and helpful. They teach us regarding the course and discuss with us our problems.
