The Most Honest Review

My college life has been something that I will cheer about throughout my life. From the name itself, you can guess it's a government one and so you know, most of the students have scored good in the entrance to get admission here. So, students are good from the beginning itself. But, this college gets the best out of that student and make them eligible to compete with the outside world. But, one thing that must be taken care of is the infrastructure, and that too is developing gradually.

Course Curriculum : The course curriculum is somewhat more theoretical than expected in engineering. My stream was Computer Science and Engineering and I was supposed to having coding as my primary focus, but the course curriculum demanded coding in very few subjects. Exam Structure : 8 semesters in total. 2 semesters in each of the 4 years of engineering. 1st to 7th semesters have 5 or 6 subjects each. 8th semester has 3 subjects only.

Internships : Yes, my college provides summer as well as winter internships. Moreover, students are encouraged and even provided opportunities to do internships in IITs, NITs, ISI and even startups. Placements : The placements and job opportunities are improving year by year. The Training and Placement Cell is mainly run by the students. Non-core students are mostly placed, even core students get placements. Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Bosch, GeeksforGeeks, IBM and some startups are some of our recruiters.

There are many events out of which, two are celebrated with utmost importance. Jeclat : It is the cultural fest of our college. It is the biggest cultural fest of North Bengal. It is celebrated every year during spring. It continues for a week with many events in which everyone can participate. Moreover, on the social night, celebrities are invited, mostly singers and musical bands. Sristi : It is the techno-management fest of our college. It is organised every year before Jeclat. It continues for 3 to 4 days with many events. Moreover, every traditional events are celebrated. Sports get the top priority in our college. Sports events are also organised in our college. Annual sports, inter-college cricket, football and volleyball events are organised.

The fee is very feasible as it is a government college. The fees per semester is around 5500 which amounts to 11000 per year and 44000 for the entire course. It is excluding the amount which is charged during admission which is somewhat around 25000. So, including all, it is around 70000 for 4 years, which is very much affordable.

I have never availed any scholarship or loan. But, the students who are financially weak get waive in their hostel fees in some cases. Again, the financially weak students who are good in studies get waive in their tuition fees as well, for which interviews are conducted every year. Based on that, waive is done, either half or full.

The extracurricular activities in our college is awesome. Everyone can explore themselves. We have Sports club, which comprises of cricket, football, volleyball primarily, but badminton, table tennis and others are all there. Music club, Dance club, Rotarack club, Coders' club, Art club and many more clubs are there where you can get the exposure you need.

Here comes the emotion. To be very honest, the hostel infrastructure is not that good. But, trust me, that will not matter at all. After those 4 years, you'll just want to get back there again and again. The hostel food is relatively good as compared to other colleges. The hostel fees is 12000 per semester which amounts to nearly 1 lakh for 4 years, which is again very much affordable.

The alumni network is very strong and very helpful in our college. Most of the events in our college are funded by the alumni of our college. Moreover, most of the alumni are at high positions in their respective companies, which helps in the placements of our college.

I appeared for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (Engineering). I secured a rank of 6131. Then, I participated in the counselling in which three rounds are there. After first and second rounds, upgradation is done. After the third round, I needed to go to my college for admission.

The faculty of the core departments of the college are highly qualified. But, the non-core faculty is somewhat less qualified as compared to that of core. The success of a student depends on his own hard work. The faculty will not lead to the success of the students.
