Remarks

Jadavpur University is a world in itself. Believe me you can't find an University with this much diversity. Here you will be given full freedom to do whatever you like. From research to photography, entrepreneurship to mountaineering, Tech to Dance, Drama we have it all for you. You just have to choose the best for you. But a coin has two faces, so be aware where you are spending your time.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Overall course curriculum is pretty good. Syllabus is quite in depth. You will get support by the good faculty. Syllabus is pretty research oriented. There are two internals of 30 marks each followed by semester of 100 marks.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement entirely depends on your own quality and which department you are in. The placement scenario in CS/IT departments are extremely good, (nearly 100% placement with as high as agv package of 16 LPA)in the other hand core departments lags a little bit. Last year in my department nearly 85% got placed in core with avg ctc of 6 LPA.

College Events

5

In this section our college is best in my opinion. We have a lot of cultural, tech, games, entrepreneurship related festival are celebrated here. From 7 day long 'Sanskriti', Tech fest 'Srijan', fashion fest 'Ibtida' to games related fest 'U-Turn' the campus is always full of life. Other than this each department have their own tech fest and each faculty have their own cultural fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

This is the cheapest university in the whole state. The total fees of 4 years is ? 10,000 including everything. The hostel charge is also low nearly ?3k a month(there are certain cliteria for getting hostel though). So if expenses are your concern, go for JU.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of scholerships available both from the college or outside the college. Scholerships from Alumni association, Tution fee weaver scheme are provided by college also Vivekananda Scholership, JBNSTS, FFA are the Scholerships you can avail outside of college.

Campus Life

4.5

There is a playground in the college where er play football and cricket, also volleyball court, basketball court, free gym, a huge library enriched with lots of books is there. There are labs in each department in which you can do your project, research etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel infrastructure is very good, food is also quite good.(if only you are not born with a silver spoon in your mouth). You also get a lot of friends there. A strong unity works between hostel guys, but cleanliness is a bit concern.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is not that upto the mark. I don't see a lot of contribution of them rather than in financial help. But don't worry your seniors are very helpful and will guide you throughout the course. What you have to do is to make a good rapport with them.

Admission

A councelling will happen through which you will be alloted your preferred branch according to your WBJEE rank then varification of documents will happen followed by admission. Admission process is operated by college and done inside the college.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty is very knowledgeable and supportive. They are very well qualified people. I am from Mechanical Engineering department. There are total 120 teachers in the department so you can see student to teacher ratio is pretty good.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
