I think with every institution there are certain negatives and positives. However in this university the positive outweigh the negatives on several counts.One negative thing that I can say about this university is that the administration of the department is a bit slow and there is room for development in that area.

The course structures are well designed and composite. In most course structures the curriculum is well detailed and inclusive of all relevant requirements. In fact course curriculum more often than not matches that of international universities.

The placement cell is quite active with various members from across the departments. I got my first job through the placement cell. It was a well paying job within the city. Most companies have a preference for Jadavpur University students and they usually have an edge over others.

Sanskriti the annual students fest happen for three times in a year organized by Arts, Science and Engineering faculties respectively. They have various events from debating to street plays. It is a wonderful experience.

It is a public University thus have the lowest fee structure. It can be afforded by various members coming from different class backgrounds yet have the best education and experience that they can get.

UGC fellowships are given which I have availed. The ErasmusMundus scholarship, SYLFF fellowship, Swami Vivekananda fellowship Indira Gandhi fellowships, are the few of the many fellowships that I know the University provides.

There is a Sports faculty in separate. The labs are well equipped. We have a basketball court, football grounds, badminton court. Once a year the sports tournament occur where students and teachers can take part.

Hostel has state of the art infrastructure and facilities providing breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also has free WiFi and round the clock water and security. You can also opt for single rooms if you are a research scholar.

It is a very close knit community. The alumni association is quite strong. They provide continual assistance. Senior students are also extremely helpful. Jadavpur University is like a big home to everyone who has entered its premises.

In most cases you do have some sort of screening processes in the form of a test or interview. So you can be well assured that your admission is through a veritable process which decides on the deserving candidates. It is credible indeed.

The best teachers of the country and abroad are part of the University with valid credentials. Teachers are extremely helpful and do go out of their way to provide assistance to the students. They usually have a friendly relationship with students.
