A premise to learn and dream

To be honest I cannot find any negative remarks about our university. The freedom I experienced, with the immense amount of knowledge I amassed has made me who I am today. Freedom of thought, freedom of speech, and in depth knowledge in my field - I gained everything from there.

The course curriculum is pretty well rounded. It contains all the necessary topics arranged in proper order through out the 4 years to make our learning coherent. Generally there are two class tests per semester, and one final exam for each semester. Apart from this there are several sessionals or labs for which separate reports were be prepared for each experiments, and based on those a viva voce was held at the end of each semester. At the end of the 8th semester a grand viva was arranged the syllabus of which covered all the sessionals of all the 8 semesters

In all my years I have always seen more than 90% placements happen, sometimes 100% even. Yes, my university provided summer internship. But it did not involve any stipend. Individual summer internships were provided for groups of students and we got to intern at IOCL Haldia Refinery for one month. The experience was quite unique, as it was our first familiarisation with industry.

A number of different events were celebrated in our university, the first of them being Freshers' Welcome. It was the way we got familiar to our senior. Fun time with its own quirks. Next came the grand fest, Sanskriti. A cultural fest that involved from college bands to reputed musicians. It is one to remember. Then there is Srijan, a technical fest for all the young scientists to let there imagination bloom. Also, Annual Reunion of different departments is an integral part of our culture where both teacher and students work together to make it a grand programme.

Being a government university the fee structure is definitely most feasible. The reason why many students from quite poor financial background were able to flourish in our university. Right from admission fees to semester fees, library fees - everything was well affordable.

There were a number of scholarships offered by my university but sadly I know very little of them as I haven't availed any. I am sorry but I do not want to manufacture anything that I do not have any knowledge about.

There are inter department cricket and football matches. Also there is an annual sports meet involving all the departments that was really a site to behold. It involved all kind of different sports that one can think of. Also, once a year there was a Cricket match between students and teachers organised for each departmenta. Those were fun.

The alumni network and aenior students are most definitely helpful. They always guided us through any difficulties. They were quite approachable and have always been ready to offer a hand whenever asked.

1. I prepared and sat for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. 2. I qualified a certain rank. 3. A counseling session was called. I was able to chose my favourite stream and favourite university through counseling. That's how I got admitted.

They are the best that one can ever have in their life. The knowledge, the mastery on teaching it, the approachability - unparalleled. Without them I could not have succeeded in my life. They guided me through each and every difficult corners to prepare me for the bigger world out there.
