Remarks

The positive things about the college is that even if the college is so old the employees here are pretty open minded and don't mind seeing couples. The negatives are that the infrastructure and hostels are too old and everything is cramped up. We don't even have a proper auditorium. All the departments are cramped up in 2 four-storey buildings.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course is relatively new in this college which, by the way, is one of the oldest colleges in India. The course started here in early 2010s and still doesn't have much support from the college itself. There are very less labs for Aerospace Engineering here, we don't even have an airstrip here. The teachers aren't much enthusiastic in their teaching. But as Aerospace Engineering in India has a long way to go so I won't complain much.

Placement Experience

1.5

The campus placements are mediocre at best but we do get good placements outside campus. IIEST, or BESU as it was previously called, is a big name in Eastern India. Yes we get internships in the 3rd and 4th years.

College Events

3.5

Apart from all the sports tournaments there are two major events in the college. One of them is the upcoming cultural festival of our college called REBECA. The other is the biggest technical festival of Kolkata called Instruo. Colleges from all over India participate in the events in Instruo and cash prizes worth 7.5Lakh rupees are given.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is quite feasible. We have to pay around 1 lakh for a semester. There are 8 semester for B.tech. 2 each year. If a student's family earns less than 5 lakhs rupees per annum then they get a remission of 66%. And if their income is less than 1 lakh rupees then they only have to pay for hostel and their tuition fee is returned to them.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan is offered by pretty much every bank because our college is pretty famous. Some students are awarded scholarships based upon their family's income or personal merit. Some are awarded scholarship by government after clearing exams like NTSE, etc.

Campus Life

2.5

We don't have much sports here and the grounds are pretty small. We only have 2 proper grounds here and a basketball court. There is plenty of space here but it is unused and the grass around there is uncut so it is useless. If the areas in college are utilized properly then it will be wonderful.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Mediocre. The hostels are not maintained and haven't been renovated from decades. The toilets are very dirty and we aren't provided with proper tables and beds. The food totally sucks in the mess. We get potatoes everyday and they taste yucky.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni is pretty good. They are always providing funds to our college whenecer required. The seniors are pretty helpful and skillful. The clubs are pretty much carried by seniors and they do it quite wonderfully.

Admission

I took an Engineering Entrance Exam called JEE Main. I got an All India Rank of 23150 and I applied for JOSAA couseling 2019. Through JOSAA counseling I was alotted VNIT, Nagpur. But being an Aerospace enthusiast I applied for CSAB 2019 and got this college in the 2nd round of CSAB.

Faculty

3

The faculty is pretty average at best. We have a very qualified staff for Aerospace Engineering but in terms of labs we are lagging behind other branches being the newest department in IIEST, Shibpur. The lab faculty is mediocre at best and the HOD is a pretty teacher.

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
