The computer science department is best. The scenic beauty is the best thing you can get over here with a friendly relationship between seniors and juniors. The faculty is moderate with few cream professors.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is good with similar to MAKAUT. Exams are taken twice in an year and there are also class test, projects, lab assignment. Also there are few internals and viva taken before the semester exams.
Placement Experience
No there are no internship opportunities till now but with upcoming years it is also been started. We have a good placements in IT sector for the software enthusiastic students. Also there is good scope for the core department students like civil and electrical.
College Events
There are many events celebrated all the year round. We had Saraswati and bishwakarma puja in our College. Apart from that there is social cultural annual function and also a technical fest every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is not that expensive. As the hostel costs around 20000 a year and the college fee structure depends on the department. Where information technology has the highest fee and the civil, electrical and mechanical holds the lowest fee structure.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are various sholarships for economically backward students from government as it is a government college and also few are sponsored by our alumni seniors. There's some interview for the scholarship and also few waivier is given to few by the college.
Campus Life
There is a chemistry lab and various mechanical workshops. Also there are many clubs like coders, photography, dance,music,art and sports club. Each club look after each of the event under their names.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel is good and also it's food. The best part is it's scenary. It's amidst the tea garden of jalpaiguri. Also one can have a good view from the terrace. Only fans are not provided in the hostel till third year.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes. We have various groups and associations of alumni of jgec. They are totally helpful regarding placements and social cultural function of our college. They help us in every kind they can. Also a sponsorship is there.
Admission
You need to sit for WBJEE Exam and then you need to get a descent rank to get selected. Then there will be three rounds of selection process and at the end round you will get the most deserving college based on your rank.
Faculty
The faculty is very good and there's few new professor included from year 2019. So classes are regular and the best faculty is of computer science department with lots of curriculum and projects given to students every year.
