Remarks
There are a lot of positive things already mentioned above, be it placements, opportunities to develop etc. Negetives are that there are fewer companies for core internships, less package offered by core companies. Institute prefer Professors with good research background, rather than their relationship with students and their teaching abilities.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course for mechanical engineering is quite outdated. But institutes like NITs do give a lot of equipments and opportunities to carry out ur own projects and work in teams. Circuit branches like CS, IT are quite modern. Exams are divided into quizzes(insem) , midsems and endsems.
Placement Experience
The placement percent and the average packages given are quite good. Mechanical currently has an average package of 8 LPA and CS has an average package of 16 LPA. Yes, there are a lot of companies which come for internships too along with placements. Most of the private sector companies takes atleast 2-3 students, the no. Might be much higher for some companies. They recruit for summer internship for 2-3 months. Usually business, banking, software companies offer a stipend of 75-80k per month in average, and for core its quite low , 10-20k per month.
College Events
There are small scale events organised by the clubs of our institute every weekend. But the major attraction is our technical fest - ENGINEER, and the cultural fest - INCIDENT. The technical fest has various technical exhibitions and competitions like robot-wars. Also there's a comedy night where a famous standup comedian is invited every year, and a DJ night which marks the end of the fest. The cultural fest is even more popular, we pro shows , comedy sessions , DJ nights, fashion shows etc. We also get to showcase our beach to the students of other institutes.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite cheap compared to private engineering colleges. But considering it to be a government institute, the fee is quite high compared to government colleges of basic sciences. The fee is approximately 75k per semester
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a popular institute, any scholarship provided by the government is applicable here, the institute takes care of it. Scholarships based on merit is available for general students, same goes for SC, ST, OBC students, apart from their reduced fee structure.
Campus Life
This is something that we can be proud of in our college. Here comes the benefit of being in a top NIT. Students get access to all practical learning offered in their course through labs. Their are technical clubs to help people carry on individual projects and procurement of materials. Their are certain labs and equipments that are available normally to research scholars only, but can be used by undergraduate students with proper permission. For sports, our college has a team for most of the popular sports. We can three playing grounds, swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court, and two indoor complex for badminton, TT and some other sports.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel for the girls are awesome compared to what usually the government institutes provide. For the boys, its usual, dull, not that great, liveable. But its surely better than a lot of other government institutes.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is quite good. We have a committee to look into alumni relations too. The seniors are quite helpful and friendly. There's no scene of ragging and stuff like that. Seniors are always ready to help the juniors be it academics or any other activity.
Admission
People get a chance to be selected for this college according to the cutoffs set by JoSAA. JoSAA is the committee which takes care of the allocation of seats through JEE mains exam. We need to give a preference of institutes, where we'd like to go and then JoSAA takes care of the rest of the things. Once a particular college is locked, we need it physically go and be admitted to that institute.
Faculty
Most of the professors are too research oriented and quite helpful. But some sadistic professors also exist, who ruin the image of all the professors. Overall, professors encourage students to look up books and implement them in real life projects. They arent much interested in students who just look for placements or students who are just good at theoretical things. According to them the students should grasp the theoretical concepts and implement them practically and efficiently.
