Remarks

I think every college has its own ups and downs and there is not really an answer to this question. There are positive remarks and negative remarks, based on individual experiences of the students. I enjoyed my college life to its best. However, I think the academics were not as strong as I would have liked. I could complain about the outdated curriculum but I dont want to because I was least interested in studies during my bachelors. I have heard about a lot of corruption cases because there is big money involved when you are organizing big fests. I think some of them are based on truth but there are rumours too. I think that part is really saddening because at the end of the day, its people who are involved into selfish acts. But then thats human nature so you can not really do about it. So yeah, thats about it. There can never be a coin with only a single side.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum during my time was outdated. However, the authorities have updated it this year. Nevertheless, it is a good curriculum and students go on to various fields. The exams are held twice every semester, mid semesters and end semesters. Also, there are other evaluation methods like quizzes and minor tests.

Placement Experience

3

The computer engg dept gets a lot of placement and job offers. There is an abundance of opportunities for those guys. My department does not get as many opportunities but still there are plenty. Its mainly because there are too many comp science companies out there while not so many for core electronics. My college also provides internship opportunities for extremely bright students. CGPA is one major criteria for shortlisting candidates, which in my opinion is not entirely fair. The stipend is Rs 5000/- a month.

College Events

4

There are events carried out all throughout the year. 'Kashish' is a fest organized by 2nd year students for Freshers. 'Dasvidania' is the farewell ceremony for final year students organized by 3rd year students. We have got 'Sparsh', the cultural fest and 'Mindbend', the technical fest. We also celebrate Navratri and Garba Nights and people from other states are allowed to celebrate their cultural events as well.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is modest at best. There are scholarships available for the needy and who qualify the criteria. However, I dont think there is any instalment option for the students. I think that option would be really helpful to the students.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are plenty of scholarships for the needy and those who qualify the criteria. I think CGPA is an important requirement for the same. I did not have so good scores and since being from the 'General' category, I never looked out for scholarships because I knew I wont be able to avail one.

Campus Life

3

Extracurricular activities are plenty. In the cultural fests, students have the opportunity to get into managerial committees. There are a number of student chapters too. I think apart from academics, its the people of the student chapters that make for a good college life and my college is really good with that. The literary society in the college called LAC (literary affairs committee) is best and organizes many fun events. There are a number of sports activities too like Inter NIT, MMNCT etc. The labs, I think, need improvement.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes, i had opted for hostel facilities. Hostels in my college vary a lot. The older hostels, obviously, are in an extremely bad shape. The new hostels have okay-ish facilities but are far from good. The Btech students are given better hostels, more senior the better. The master's or PhD students are been given substandard hostels and are not paid much heed. I think its really unfair to distinguish students on the basis of their enrolment. And if such distinguishing is necessary than at-least, the basic facilities should be available to students of all levels.

Alumni/Alumna

Definitely! Here, people help people. The seniors and juniors maintain a helpful relationship and the alumni network I believe is really strong. The seniors are always available to guide their juniors and the juniors are always helping out with official cases when the seniors have graduated.

Admission

I had to score high percentage of marks in 12th boards because of its 40% weight-age. I also had to score really good marks in JEE: Mains. Once done, all the prospective students were supposed to fill a choice list which would Iterate in rounds. Once selected for a particular college, you could not get any college beneath the selected college in the choice list. In the successive rounds, however, you may get a college which is above the selected college. Thus, after all the rounds, you have a final college.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty in department comes in all shapes and sizes. Some of them are great and they have a very strong research background and are able to guide students very properly. However, some faculties are under experienced and can do a lot better.

Placements are good. Students are eligilble for campus placements from 7th semester. The highest package is 2100000 and the lowest is 200000. The median package is 3.5 to 4.5 lakhs per year. From last two years there was 100% placements but usually its 90%. I plan to pursue pg after this degree in either mtech or mba.
