Remarks

It's the oldest engineering institution in the state of Odisha. It provides an ample number of opportunities to the students to grow not only as a technical person, but also as a good human being. We learn many new things everyday here and go through the ups and downs of college life with the help of our beloved seniors and faculty members and hopefully one day we will be successful in our lives.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum provides you a great chance at learning every aspect of engineering during the first year and at the end of the first year, if you have done well in your respective branch, you can change your branch to your favorite one as well. The examination structure includes one mid semester exam during the 3rd month of the semester and an end semester exam during the last month of the semester.

Placement Experience

4

Placement thus season has been fantastic; the number of job offers has reached a whopping 622 and still counting as there is a full semester left. Many huge companies like Aditya Birla Group, Amazon, Rockstar Games, Deloitte, Maruti etc. pick many talented candidates for their companies from our university and they have not been disappointed yet. Our university provides many internship opportunities as well. Students have done their internships all over the world starting from CTtC, Bhubaneswar to Canada.

College Events

4.5

Many events are organised in our university every year: 1. Samavesh- The annual technical fest of VSSUT, Burla. It showcases many technical sub-events like Makerfest, Industrial Conclave etc. 2. Vassaunt- The annual cultural fest of VSSUT, Burla. It includes arifex, many gaming events, a dj night and a star nite. 3. Illumina- The annual sports event which encourages all the students to take part in different sporting events and win fantastic prizes.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is quite feasible as it only charges me 13745 INR per Even semester and 12745 INR per odd semester. As I don't stay in a hostel the hostel charges are not there in my fees. The overall fees for the course is quite low as compared to other private colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides a chance for various scholarships like the Medhabrutti, FFE, Scholarship through state board and other companies as well. e.g. My fatger works as an MCL employee and I am entitled to receive a scholarship from MCL if I score above 80%. I have a CGPA of 8.64 and I am receiving the scholarship since 3 years now.

Campus Life

3.5

Extracurricular activities are at their best in our university, starting from NCC, Sports like cricket, football, basketball, badminton etc., NSS, various clubs also nurture all the students and groom them to become their best selves. The labs are equipped with instruments for much practical experiences we could gain during our B. Tech lives.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the seniors are very supportive and the alumni network has time and again helped us a lot with the various procedures like placement and other major events organised at the university campus. The seniors always guides us with their insight and help us gain the practical knowledge in various fields starting from the different clubs like SAE, IIC, E-Cell etc. to the organization of the technical and cultural fests of the college i.e. Samavesh and Vassaunt. We learn all the aspects from them and are grateful to our respected seniors and alumni for all that they have done for us.

Admission

I cleared the JEE MAINS 2016 with a score of 121. I applied for the shortlisting through the state website of OJEE and filled up my choices for Mechanical Engineering in VSSUT, Burla. Based upon my rank of 49376, I got selected into VSSUT under Mechanical branch in the very first round.

Faculty

4

The faculty members are true incarnations of God, I can say. They have supported the students through all the thick and thin of their college lives. They not only gift us the knowledge of engineering but also guide us through the working of various aspects of life including the preparation and presentation of racing cars(SUPRA) and rough terrain vehicle(BAJA). They also help us grow as persons and learn various attributes like honesty, empathy, compassion etc.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
