Remarks
The overall experience in college is very good. The campus is very clean and green. It's still developing and new buildings are coming up and the infrastructure is developing. As it is in the heart of the city, everything is very nearby. You don't have to travel a lot to buy anything. The Administration is not good. The people at higher posts don't worry about student problems. They are very reluctant and do everything that they want to.
Course Curriculum Overview
In first year everyone has to study the same subjects irrespective of the branch or department. After 2nd year all branches have their own curriculum. The curriculum is designed in a way that the students get basic ideas of the subjects and the department. The exam structure is like this:- First sessional exam of 15 marks. Second sessional exam of 15 marks. Then teacher's assessment 10 marks. These 10 marks usually involve class tests, mini projects or presentations. So in all internal 40 marks are completed. After that end semester takes place of 60 marks.
Placement Experience
Being a National Institute of Technology, the job opportunities are good. Streams like Computer Science, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical have a lot of core companies visiting the campus. Others branches like Electronics, Metallurgy and Chemical have less number of core companies visiting the campus. Still there are lot of IT and Management companies that come to the campus. Companies also come for internships in 3rd year especially IT companies. Most of the companies offer stipends 30k+. I did my intern in Morgan Stanley in Mumbai and my Stipend was 87k per month.

There are lot of events that take place in the college. Independence day and Republic day take place on institute level. Then there is Department Gathering which is an intra departmental event which goes for 2 days. Activities like traditional day, Rose day, Paper Dance, DJ night, Funky Rally take place in DG. Then there is Institute Gathering which is an inter departmental event. All the departments compete for the IG trophy for 10 days in sports and cultural competitions. Apart from this there are lot of festivals celebrated in the college like Pongal, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali , Onam, etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
All the NITs have the same fee structure which is very very expensive. Tution fees is 1,35,000 per year and Hostel Fess is around 1lakh per year. In all the total fees for a hostellite goes to around 2.4 Lakhs a year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Any bank offers Loan for admission in VNIT. There are multiple scholarships given by the government. Students having less income are given scholarships by the state governments and backward classes students are also given scholarships by state governments. Subject toppers of every subject get cash prizes from the college.
Campus Life
There is a lot of scope for extracurricular activities. There are around 30 different clubs that we can join and take part in different competitions. Sports facilities are best in class. We have a huge sports complex and a huge ground as well. Labs are very good and all the equipments necessary are available
Hostel Facilities
I am a dayscholar but the hotel infrastructure is top class. We have around 15 hostels in our campus. Girls have 2 hostels which are very spacious and clean. Hostels have clean toilets and good maintainace. High speed internet is also available. We have two hostels which are 11 storeys big and are like hotels.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is not that good uptill now. But the seniors that we meet in college are very supportive and helpful. They guide us whenever we need help and are in touch with us even after leaving the college. Alumni association needs to work more to develop the alumni network.
Admission
Candidates have to give JEE mains exam. Top rankers have to fill the college preference forms on JOSSA website. After which 6-7 rounds take place. If the seats of some colleges are vacant, some 3-4 spot rounds also take place. It is also necessary to have more than 75% marks in 12th boards or any +2 level exam. The ranks of JEE mains are calculated based on both 12th marks and entrance exam marks. After we get selected from the JOSSA rounds we have to submit the required documents in college and pay the fees.
Faculty
Teachers are highly educated and well versed with their subjects and areas of interest. Some teachers teach well and some don't in the sense students do not understand the concepts properly. Senior teachers are very strict and don't give marks properly. Some teachers are very supportive towards student activities and encourage participation in non academic events.
