My College Review

MBA course from SMS, Varanasi changed my life for good. It was a roller coaster of learning experiences. Infrastructure and campus life was beyond my expectations. The institute is pretty much dedicated to preparing the leaders for the future. One of the best things about the institute was that they were constantly emphasizing on imposing cultural diversity and academic diversity to infuse a varying perspective in the classroom for enhanced learning.

The course curriculum was relevant and is very well designed to meet real-world expectations from corporates. It makes the students industry-ready. The curriculum covered a wide range of disciplines and gives a good hand to all the functions. So I have chosen this course. Case studies and industry visits helped in understanding practical applications of the course and it was pretty much helpful.

Placements are pretty good at our college. The package offered ranges from 3 LPA to 7 LPA. The average package offered us 4 lakhs per annum. The training and placement cell is active throughout the year in order to generate opportunities as per the students. Some of the frequent recruiters include Airtel, Convergys, Oyo, Mother Dairy, Amul, Justdial, etc. Most of the recruitments are done for the role of general management and product management.

The first-year fee for my PGPM course was just around 1.3 lacs INR, which is at least less than other B-Schools in the region. The total course fee was around INR 2,60,000 lacs for the two-year program, which I paid in biannual installments. The loan facility is also available at the college, subject to approval. Our college is pretty flexible in terms of fee structure.

The college organizes great seminars and guest lectures on topics like "Statistical application in Management", "advanced management practices", etc. Apart from that, the sports activities were limited. College is well immersed in academics and we have very little time for extracurricular activities. Apart from the annual day celebration called "Adharshila" and occasional workshops, very little festivals were celebrated.

Admission to the college is on the basis of UPSEE exam scores. I scored pretty decent scores in the entrance exam and it was enough to be eligible for the counseling process of the other colleges under AKTU. But this college is good in terms of teaching and placements. So I attended counseling for SMS. Luckily, I was able to crack the proceeding rounds.

Teachers are well qualified with a high level of expertise. They are really helpful with their extensive corporate exposure which helped us get a hands-on learning experience. They all were very supportive and pushed us towards taking entrepreneurship.
