Computer and Information Technology

The infrastructure of our college should be improved. Being a old college, we do not have smart classes in all the classrooms. If this can be improved, overall everything is good here and innovations are taking place everyday here.

My studies mainly include studying about computers which include data sctructures and algorithms and also cloud computing. The topics are advanced and modern in industry. So overall the curriculum is good. There are two semester exams with a gap of 6 months each. In between each semesters, there are internals of all the subjects we have.

I would say placements are bit on the good side. It is not very good like IITs, but some product based companies do come for on campus placements. Overall placement average can be said as 4 LPA. Yes our college does provide I did an research internship in 1st year at IIEST Shibpur. So, it is pretty good.

There are many events always going on in our college the whole year. From seminars, to workshops to fests. Everything is here. We have Sristi, the largest Techno-management fest of North Bengal. We have Jeclat, the largest cultural fest of North Bengal.

Yes, the fees structure is extremenly feasible. For Information Technology branch, the total fees structure for 4 years is Rs 98000. For CSE/ECE it is Rs 65000 and for core branches like mechanical, civil and elelctrical, it is Rs 40000. These are all the fees for 4 years. So, this fees is extremely affordable.

We have full fee/half fee scholarship. The criterion is, if your family income is less than Rs 250000 per annum. So if you get the full fee scholarship, the whole semester tuition fees is waived off and if you get half fee, half of the tuition fees is waivedo off.

Yes, sports facilities here is extremely good. We have a sports club here, which competes with other college teams in national level in cricket,football and basketball. Leaving sports club, we have 14 other clubs, like music club, dance club, film and drama society, trekking club etc. And yes, labs have all the equipments required, but it can be improved.

Yes, I have opted for hostel. The hostel facilities are good. But it can be somewhat improved like the mess food here, is not very good. Also, sometimes the floors are not very clean, so sometimes it feels irritating. Else, everything is good here.

We have a vast alumni network. Being the 5th oldest college of West Bengal, it has alumnis in every nook and corner of the world. From alumnis working in renowned companies like Apple, Google, Intel to some have successful business and startups. Yes, they are extremely helpful and we have a alumni association. They hold sessions in our college on various aspects.

I got admission in this college through West Bengal Engineering Entrance examination (WBJEE) 2018. I secured a rank of 7606 here. Sincecleared the cutoff for Information Technology branch of this college and hence got admission.

The faculty of Information Technology department is very good. Professors have good knowledge about data structures and algorithms and hence if we have any problems regarding any problems, we can always ask them and they will be always willing to help. So regarding faculties, they are well qualified and many have obtained their education from well known foreign universities and Indian premeier colleges like IITs.
