JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY-DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

This is the best place if you want education with fun at the minimum cost. The courses are not so heavily overworked so people have time to do things of their own. The fees are not high and at the same time placements and admission to other top colleges are high.

At the beginning of every course we were provided a note on course curriculum of each course. It explicitly stated the objective of each course and what would be the benefit of taking each course. Each session of the class was attributed a some particular course objective which were met. However there were no such formal course structure and the professors were free to taught what they wanted as long as it was aligned with the course objective.

We have a separate Placement and Training cell to look after placement and internship needs. While internship mostly occurs for CS and IT departments some internship related activities happens for core Electrical as well with CESC every year selecting 5 interns. On top of that if you are good at coding you can also apply for the coding related internships which are plentiful in number. As for placement all departments achieve near 100 percent placement with Electrical department having an average package of 5.5 lakhs per annuam. I was placed a PwC India with a pay package of 8.41 lakhs/annum

JADAVPUR has many events- SANSKRITI- The annual cultural fest of Jadavpur University is a 9 day extravaganza with food,fun ,music ,events and merriment. SRIJAN- The annual technical fest of Jadavpur University consists of various technical events. SPARKZ- The freshers welcome of the department of Electrical engineering of JU. CONVOLUTION- The technical fest of department of Electrical Engineering of Jadavpur University ARENA- The annual sports event of JU.

The course fees for the degree program is Indian Rupees 10000 which makes it the most cheapest in India. The charges of examination is also really low at around rupees 10 per paper and 5 rupees for grade card. Overall this is the cheapest place in India.

ABB PRIVATE LIMITED provides scholarships to meritorious students from poor financial backgrounds. Students are selected for interview for this purpose after admission and there is no cap to the upper limit of the number of students selected.

The department has Arena which is it's own inter dept sports tournament. In addition the university participates in several zonal level competitions. Also there various other clubs like photography club,robotics club where many events takes place.

Hostels are allocated based on financial condition of the students. This is not a complete residential college which means even if you have opted for a hostel you might not get. Hostels are allocated on the basis of the financial conditions of the students. The infrastructure of the hostel however needs improvement.

The University has a very strong alumni background. Every students are admitted to an alumni network which is spread throughout the world. The aluminium decisions are take into account when some major changes takes place and they are also there to help any students in campus in any way possible.

For admission to this course students needs to give an entrance exam called West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). On the basis of the rank obtained and what other people have opted for the department is chosen. There is a total of 110 seats in this department. So far any General merit students you need a rank of below 500 to be eligible for this course.

Most of the faculty members of Jadavpur University Department of Electrical Engineering were alumnus of the college itself. They were greats in their respective fields and have mostly joined the academics to fulfill their research goals. Most of the professors are PhD degree holders and many others have degrees from top foreign universities. Overall the quality of the professors are really high.
