Remarks

It's a good academic institution but in many ways it's like a school and the hectic time table take away any other College experience one could enjoy. A more active opportunity cell and a greater focus on hands on learning would make it better

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is varied and covers basics in various fields of physics. The exam structure is relaxed as in there's one internal exam of 10 marks, one assignment of 10 marks and5 marks for attendance. The labs are of 4 hour each and the time table is pretty hectic in the 2 and 3 year with almost all classes starting at 8:30 till about 5. We don't get Saturday off either which makes the week longer and tiring.

Placement Experience

1

There isn't any placement opportunity through the College specially in my course as most students would have to go for higher studies anyway. There are research internships available in the dskc lab without any stipend.

College Events

1.5

We have a cultural festival which is a three day event where djs and singers come for events. It's not on a huge scale because of the lack of funds and usually only du students participate. We also have department fest where there r games and events

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is feasible since it's a government College. The fee is collected at the start of a session so around June July. Lots of financial aid is available for low income groups ans scholarships too.

Fees and Financial Aid

The College has lots of scholarship for the low income meritorious students but I'm not availing any of those and have little idea of the same. I am receiving scholarship from the government through the inspire initiative

Campus Life

3

Miranda is a girls College so the only male participation is to open events of the society or department. The fest is also a time when the gender ratio is affected and we find a lot of boys around campus as it's thr only time they r allowed entry. There are gender sensitising groups and a queer club along with women development cell etc which are very active and quick to address any issues. They organise variety of events to sensitize the people of the various socio political issues and represent the students who go to them with any discrimination cases

Alumni/Alumna

The College seniors are very helpful and there is no scene of ragging. But the College alumni network isn't very strong and very seldom do the the alumni involve with the College events. When invited some might come in to give a talk and interact but there r not significantly active with the College. Having said that many of the College faculty are Miranda alumnus

Admission

I had filled the application form of delhi university. The Colleges then released their respective merit list and students with their 12 th marks in that cutoff range could take admission in those College in the next 3 days of the cutoff declaration. I had planned to go into physics and the nirf ranking of Miranda prompted me to take admission there. Luckily I got in at the first cutoff itself so I didn't look at the other Colleges much.

Faculty

4

The senior faculty is extremely qualified and a few younger faculty is also favourites among the students with a strong passion for the subject. The classes are regular and rarely do the teachers take day off. The faculty is uptight in a schoolish kind of way but very knowledgeable and pro in their field. Some phd level faculty do create problems for us as they aren't much trained to teach.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
