Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Internal tests (which are of moderate level and quite helpful for the upcoming examinations) in almost every subject are held towards the end of the semester which makes it very hectic and burdening to manage all the subjects together and score well simultaneously during internals. The long assignments can be given in the middle of the semester instead of at the end along with the tests. The curriculum should also include a wider perspective of research for the students and thoroughly inform them about the same. I chose this course as I wanted to pursue research further and wished that college would give me more research experience. Apart from this, the university conducted 2 exams annually with each semester being of 4 months. With the thorough practice of pics and concept clarity, you can score well.

Placement Experience

3

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

There was no such hike in the fees. In fact some amount from the first year's fee was refunded due to that year being online at the time of covid. Though the fees of our college is high when compared to other colleges. It costed me around around 50K in 3 years including examination fee, tuition fee etc. Numerous scholarships and fee waivers are also available for merit students or financially suppressed students. They conduct interviews and provide the fee waivers to the deserving students. Scholarships are also available for girl students and meritorious students of each course and batch. The amounts and names of these are available on the college website. The college provides in campus internships as well but I am not aware much about that.

Campus Life

3.5

The college organises multiple cultural and fun events around the year like the annual fest vibrations and other events of prominence occassions like diwali, The bollywood day, The ethnic day. All the campus societies and course departments also organise their individual annual festivals with lots of competitions and seminar. The campus societies are a great way to forge new friendships and overall personality development. The college Library has a huge quantity of books of each domain and easily accessible till 5 pm daily and 7 pm during exam times. The classrooms have basic black and white boards along with projectors. The college has its own huge sports complex.

Admission

During my session it was merit based admission and around 8 cut-off lists were out. The eligibility was around 50% in the highschool examination from a recognised board. The application form, fees, dates everything was available on the college website as well as the website of University of Delhi. 1% Concession for female students was also there which I availed. So through that I got admission in shivaji college in 4th cut off list. In college the exams are held twice every year, that is at the end of each semester. The exams are of moderate level of difficulty. My admission was very smooth so I didn't face any kind of difficulty.

Faculty

3.5

The department has around 20 faculty members for around 200 students combined of all three years. Some of them are extremely great at delivering concepts and put efforts willingly while some just make you jot down notes. They might want them to not be included in any kind of extra work related to your personal applications etc. and are kind off unsupporting. But at the same time some teachers provide you LOR easily and help with official needs. They are easy to approach incase of any doubts, but just it depends on the purpose or favour you want from them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
