Remarks
The positive thing is that there's a lot of room and freedom to explore what you like and what you enjoy doing. Not having a dresscode also helps the students feel comfortable. The negatives would be the actual teaching and sanitation issues in the College.
Course Curriculum Overview
In theory, the curriculam is good. However, it is a little outdated. We have a split up for 100 marks. 20 marks for two assignments ( 10 each) 20 marks for two internals ( which are originally for 50 marks) and 60 marks for semester( originally for 60 marks).
Placement Experience
The companies that come in are usually not that great. Even if the company is reputed, the packages are bad. There are no internships for the particular course that I'm doing. If one wants to do an internship then they'll have to apply on their own. The salary for placements are usually low and people usually don't get placed in their own city.
College Events
Culturals are a big part of Ethiraj life. In fact that is part of the main appeal for a lot of stufents. There are events happening almost everyday from department culturals, club events, conferences, workshops, etc. There's always something happening culturally at the College.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structures and feasible. The course I'm doing asks for 19,500 per semester excluding exam fees and such. The aided or morning College fees would be even cheaper making the College one of the most accessible ones.
Fees and Financial Aid
The College offers sports scholarships. People who are into extra curriculars get their own quota and are able to avail extra facilities. The College also offers support based on the annual financial income of the student.
Campus Life
Extracurriculars are the highlight of this College. There's a club for anybody who's into anything. There are sports teams, NCC cadets, Arts club, Fine Arts club, Theatre clubs for both English and Tamil, Dance teams for both classical and western, Music teams to name a few.
Alumni/Alumna
All the interaction I've had with my seniors have been positive. They're usually very empathetic and help freshers in any way they can. Personally, I've never seen or experienced ragging in my College. People are usually happy to help one another and guide them.
Admission
I was planning on doing Psychology and couldn't get in. I applied to this course the day before applications closed. This course only asked for my English marks and I was able to get in as I scored a lot in English. It was purely merit based and there were no interviews.
Faculty
Some of them are interested and teach well. However, most of them don't teach well or don't teach at all making it very frustrating to sit in class. Technically, they are qualified with degrees but that does not equate to how well they teach.
